Deluxe Sample of Kate Somerville ExfoliKate: Free with $25 Purchase at Sephora
Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment is a clinical-strength exfoliant that decongests stubborn skin and improves a blah complexion. The active fruit enzymes eliminate dead skin cells, diminish bacteria and reveal a healthy, rosy glow. According to Kate, it's the next best thing to visiting her Los Angeles clinic – and it's especially effective in combating acne and discoloration.ExfoliKate comes in the most genius jar; it dispenses out the ExfoliKate without letting air in. Which means the product stays fresh longer. And ExfoliKate isn't a time or labor intensive treatment. Once or twice a week, apply in an even layer, leave on for 20-30 seconds, wait for the tingly burn (good pain!) and wash off.
I noticed dramatically softer and smoother skin after just one treatment!
Right now, get a deluxe sample of ExfoliKate at Sephora - free with a $25 purchase. Simply enter promo code KATE at checkout.

Hello, QVC? Yes…It’s Spoiled Pretty Calling For Kate Somerville
Last night, I did something I’ve never done before. I called QVC. Not to buy anything…just to tell Kate Somerville that she’s a rock star. The woman is so unpretentious and glowy, what beauty addict wouldn’t wanna chitchat and pick her brain a bit?So after two rings, a friendly customer service rep answered the phone and asked what item number I’d like to purchase. I explained that I didn’t want to purchase anything - I just wanted to talk to Kate. All the while, I was unconsciously disguising my voice. Why? I have absolutely no idea. It’s just one of those stupid things you do without rhyme or reason…as if the woman on the other end of the line is gonna say, “Daneen…is that you?”
Anyway, the representative told me that – at that time – they weren’t taking testimonials, but kindly thanked me for calling QVC before ending the call.
I would have loved to converse with Kate. We could have bonded over our mutual fondness for exfoliation. I wanted to tell her that ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment is pure genius…that my mom thinks her Line Release Under Eye Repair is worth its weight in gold…and that I can’t wait to get my mitts on her new Oil-Free Moisturizer. But who do they patch through to Ms. Somerville? Two crazy ladies who rambled on so long that they forgot what they were talking about. Typical. It’s just like the TV news – the on-the-scene reporter always interviews the eccentric woman with curlers in her hair or the man with the missing teeth who has nothing particularly relevant to say.
Gotta get me some of that moisturizer. I’ll report back when I do.

Never tried Kate Somerville, but looking for a 1st product recommendation? Look no further than ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment. This clinical-strength exfoliant decongests stubborn skin and improves a blah complexion. The active fruit enzymes eliminate dead skin cells, diminish bacteria and reveal a healthy, rosy glow.According to Kate, it’s the next best thing to visiting her Los Angeles clinic – and it’s especially effective in combating acne and discoloration.
ExfoliKate comes in the most genius jar; it dispenses out the ExfoliKate without letting air in. Which means the product stays fresh, for effective exfoliation use after use. And ExfoliKate isn’t a time or labor intensive treatment. Use 1 to 2 times per week, apply in an even layer, leave on for 20-30 seconds, and wash off. You will notice a dramatically softer and smoother skin after just one treatment! I always use ExfoliKate a few hours before a date with Mr. Spoiled Pretty or a special event.

Saving Face

Hello, my pretties. Sorry for the lack of posts, as of late. But I have a valid excuse. I've been trying to save face. Literally.
A few days ago, I gave Kate Somerville's 9!! Kit a test drive - before announcing this week's giveaway. But yesterday, my face broke out in an inflamed, itchy rash - and I've spent the past 48 hours either resisting the urge to scratch my face off or rendered unconscious by Benadryl.
You see, I am one of the 1-3% of individuals who are allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide - the active ingredient in Kate Somerville's Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion - as well as numerous acne treatments. The good news is that while my face is looking pretty effed up right now, my doc assures me that it should be back to normal in a few days.
So just a word of warning - from one beauty addict to another: if you're going to use a new product containing Benzoyl Peroxide, do a patch test on your inner arm before slathering said product all over your face.
Acne ain't pretty, ladies. But contact dermatitis is much, much worse.

The 9!! Kit By Kate Somerville - Plus A Giveaway!!!

It’s 3am, and you’re tossing and turning in your bed. You’re having nightmares about problem skin. Then you wake up to learn that your nightmare is indeed a reality. There’s nasty acne erupting on your face.
All over the world, there are women out there just like you…dreaming about solutions to their skin disasters. But there’s a phone ringing at Kate Somerville’s house - and, luckily, she’s awake whipping up clinical-strength treatments to send your skin into recovery mode.
Sorry. I couldn't resist.
For over 15 years, Kate Somerville’s dedication to research and development has kept her at the forefront of skin wellness, and her intuitive approach has set her apart. Whatever your concern, whatever your skin type, it is her goal to give clients and retail customers the tools necessary for a healthy complexion.

My skin is problematic and sensitive - but I have yet to meet a Kate Somerville product I didn’t like, and the following is no exception. The 9!! Kit contains four absolutely fabulous products for acne-prone skin, like mine. The kits contains:
Detox Daily Wash: Every acne treatment performed in Kate Somerville’s clinic begins with Detox Daily Cleanser. This detoxifying cleanser restores clarity to your complexion.
Clarifying Treatment Toner: Result-oriented and alcohol-free, this refreshing toner clarifies and balances oily/problematic skin. Witch hazel, a natural antiseptic, aggressively fights acne-causing bacteria. Phytic acid, a naturally delivered antioxidant, exfoliator and lightening agent, helps to reduce post-acne scars. This toner leaves skin feeling clean and calm while reducing oil production.
Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion: This product is a prescription quality, intensive acne treatment that has been extensively tried and tested at Kate Somerville’s clinic. This advanced formulation has delivered life-changing results to Kate’s personal clients. Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion contains encapsulated Benzoyl Peroxide 5%, the most advanced and successful acne-fighting ingredient on the market. The controlled-release formula works around the clock without over-drying skin, like traditional Benzoyl Peroxide formulations. It kills bacteria and treats inflamed breakouts, while helping to prevent future acne.
Clearing Mask: This intensive mask treatment helps heal blemishes, prevent future breakouts and achieve clear, radiant skin.
The 9!! Kit also includes trial sizes of Kate’s Line Release (my Mom’s favorite eye treatment) and ExfoliKate.
Jessica Alba, Katherine Heigl, Debra Messing, Molly Sims, and Sharon Stone all depend on Kate for healthy skin and ageless beauty. So why shouldn’t you?
This set of products retails for $116. But lucky for you, there’s a blogger in Philly who loves spoiling her readers pretty. This week, you can enter the Kate Somerville Giveaway to win The 9!! Kit.
To enter, send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com - be sure to include your full name. The subject line should read "Kate Somerville Giveaway.” The contest ends at 9pm EST on Sunday, April 20th. A winner will be chosen at random from among the entrants. On Monday, April 21st, I’ll announce the winner’s name. Please, only one entry per person; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning. Contest is open to U.S. & Canadian residents only.
Bonne chance!

Kate Somerville Is My Mom's Savior
Since learning about Kate Somerville earlier this year, I have been eager to try her skin care products. For the past 15 years, Somerville has devoted her life to addressing skin wellness, and is responsible for the sublime skin of Hollywood’s most lovely leading ladies – including, Jessica Alba, Eva Mendes, Debra Messing, Sandra Oh, and Kate Walsh. So when my friend, Tracy, sent me some products to try – I was beyond excited. You should have seen me tearing into the box…I probably looked like one of the “infected” from that movie, 28 Days Later.
Anyway, inside the package were Kate Somerville’s Gentle Daily Wash, Quench Hydrating Serum, and Line Release Under Eye Repair. As I don’t really have under-eye issues, I re-gifted the latter product to my grateful mother – who suffers from dark circles; and after using it for a while, this is what she told me:
The Kate Somerville Line Release Under Eye Repair is awesome! I have been using it for approximately 10 days and the results are amazing. With this product, I saw a difference very quickly – but then I thought that, perhaps, it was all in my mind. That is, until your sister came home for Christmas break and she asked me what makeup I had on under my eyes. I proudly said, ‘I am not wearing anything.’ Her reply was WOW, and said she was so used to seeing my dark circles poorly masked by pancake concealer, that she just had to ask.Daneen, please tell your readers that for my under-eye problem, this is my savior. I researched the price, and when I learned it costs $125.00, I did not raise an eyebrow. For me this product is worth its weight in gold. Thanks, Kate Somerville...thanks, Daneen!
Thank you, Mom, for the great review! More Kate Somerville product reviews to come, so stay tuned.

News You Can Use

I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit this, but I spent my Saturday night watching QVC.
Totally by accident, I stumbled on QVC while channel surfing…and was surprised by the addictive nature of their Beauty Newsmakers Face-to-Face, a special that gives viewers the inside scoop on beauty from the industry's leading experts.
The program showcased new and bestselling products from Bare Escentuals, Borba, Essie, Kate Somerville, Laura Geller, Mally Roncal, Ojon, Peter Thomas Roth, Smashbox, and Tarte – just to name a few. I was also surprised to learn that many of the show’s featured products are QVC exclusives. For example, RareMinerals Blemish Therapy with Brush won’t be available at Bare Escentuals stores, counters, or on their website until February 2008 - but you can buy it now at QVC.
I usually consider myself immune to home-shopping television, but this particular program was absolutely riveting. The hosts were selling the you-know-what out of those products. I had to restrain myself, several times, from pulling out my credit card and picking up the phone.
