Cherry Frosting

This weekend, I decided to go with something elegant but intense at the same time, and ended up with this look featuring Fyrinnae eyeshadows:

Product List
MAC Bare Canvas, Fyrinnae Cherry Frosting, Fyrinnae Atomic Afterglow, Zoeva 88 Mattes palette, Girls Aloud lashes, CG Lash Blast, catrice liquid liner, Maybelline Expression kohl in white

I also wanted to share images of the cupcakes I made for my sister's and my birthday party last saturday (vanilla cakes with mango-passion fruit frosting):

Those of you who follow football probably know about Paul the psychic Octopus - I think he's great, so I made a cupcake dedicated to him (Paul is made of marzipan):

And some "classic" mini cupcakes:

As requested, here is the recipe:

Cake:
90 g butter
110g sugar
2 eggs
150g flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
60 ml milk OR passion fruit juice
1 tsp vanilla aroma

Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sifted icing sugar
mango sirup
passion fruit juice
liquid vanilla

For the frosting, I used some green food colouring, Wilton's 1M piping tube, red currants and a sprinkling of icing sugar.

Pictures from London

Hey everyone,

I got back from my London trip on wednesday night and now I finally get to posting a few pics for you :)

We went straight for afternoon tea at the Orangery in Kensington - lovely place but reasonably priced, and they have great passion fruit tarts (:

A really fat squirrel we met in Kensington Gardens (though this perspective actually makes it look slim :P). It actually ended up jumping on my friend's bag!

Another favourite place for tea: the Caffè Concerto (yummy fruit tarts!)

I know it seems like i have done nothing but ... I just love taking pics of sweets and pastries (: Ok, maybe I had a few cakes too much as well... But anyway, the main purpose (for me) was to go and see Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to Phantom of the Opera: Love Never Dies at the Adelphi Theatre. But first, a pic of Trafalgar square shortly after sunset:

The Adelphi Theatre. For those interested, you can read my review of the show here: http://phantomessoftheopera.blogspot.com

I am also a fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories, so I went to the Sherlock Holmes museum in Baker Street:

Harrod's is one of my fave places in London - such pretty things and amazingly decorated as well! There's also Lola's which makes a large selection of beautiful cupcakes:

I love this (:

Harrod's Food Hall

My cupcakes arrived slightly battered but still alive!

I also took the opportunity to go for a good pointe shoe fitting in Drury Lane in the Westend and ended up with a pair of Grishko 2007's. They are actually quite comfy (considering they're pointes)...

Whenever I go to London, I bring back loads of food as well. Yesterday, my brother and sister came to our place and we had a lovely afternoon tea with all the cakes I brought (:

Sooo, and now for today's make up! I did a look based off this picture, but I went a little overboard with the side stripes, sorry!

Christmas 2009

So I had a really bad make up day today and screwed up not one, but two looks I had intended to do for the blog! I wasn't really inspired and so I decided to better wait until I come up with something worth painting. In the meantime, I would like to share some pics from Christmas with you :)

On the weekend before Christmas, we had an insane amount of snow here (well - at least for us, as it only snows about once every winter!) - so much that we had to wait until the next day to catch a train back to Cologne. Here's the view from our back and front windows:

Unprecedented amounts of snow!

Ice flowers forming on our window panes at about -10°C!

Most of the snow had already melted again before Christmas Eve, but some remained and we actually had a white christmas - the last time I've seen this must have been more than 20 years ago!

Holiday magic - our living room just after Santa Claus left all the presents :)

I got the cutest teapot from my parents!

And here's what I got for Christmas:
  • "tea for one" teapot
  • cute pink mitts
  • "Love Actually" on blu-ray
  • "Maskerade" by Terry Pratchett
  • Price & Kensington tea pot & mugs in pink with white polka dots
  • Angel of Music shirt
  • fluffy mint-coloured bath mat
  • hairbrush
  • perfume "Daisy" by Marc Jacobs
  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid
  • Bloch cardigan in black for ballet training
  • plush octopus
  • "Pirate Latitudes" by Michael Crichton
  • and a shitload of warm socks for my cold feet!

This is the most whimsical hairbrush I have ever seen ♥!

"Phantom of the Opera - Angel of Music" t-shirt

My husband was given a "Bikini Bottom" Monopoly:

Yes, our Christmas tree decoration involves manatees.

1001 ways to use an octopus.
