June 2011 Loves. Ped Egg, Almay, EOS, Quench, Befine

I have to be honest, I didn't wear that much makeup this month. That explains the lack of makeup look post, so I will not include any makeup products in my June favorites. However, I did enjoy some products last month that I would like to share with you.

I used my EOS lip balm in summer fruit a lot. I used this egg shaped lip balm everyday and every night before bed and whenever I needed to moisturize my lips (Read my review HERE). It makes my lips soft and moisturize and it smells delicious.

Price $3.99. You can get it at your local drugstore like Walgreens, Walmart, Target, CVS, Rite Aid, and at participating grocery stores like Food 4 Less, Vons and Albertsons. Or buy them online at Drugstore.com

My Ped-Egg is love! It really works. You've probably seen in in the infomercial or at your local drugstore. Kiko got this for me a long time ago as a joke. He said my feet are so rough, I need a cheese grater for my feet lol. Well, I'm glad he got it for me because I love it. The sole of my feet gets a bit dry and all I do is slide it carefully back and forth until the dry skin disappear. It doesn't hurt at all, but I'm always careful. You can buy it HERE for $10 (2 Ped Egg) or find it at your local drugstores.

After I use my Ped-Egg, I always follow it up my Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax hand creme (Read my review HERE). It's thick and provides intense moisture on the skin, especially my dry feet. It also has a sweet Almond scent that I really enjoy. You can find it at your local drugstore or buy it at Drugstore.com for $8.99

I'm lucky I don't have sensitive skin and I can try different kinds of face products without irritating my skin. Befine Exfoliating Cleanser is my favorite cleanser at the moment. The sugar crystals dissolves into a foamy creamy cleanser that cleans and softens my face (Read my review HERE). You can buy a full size at Birchbox for $25 HERE.

I was sent these skin care samples from Quench Bath and Body, a company who specializes in all natural products. I'm waiting for the P.R. to answer some questions I have about the products before I post my review. But for now I can say that I really enjoyed their products. You can go to their website www.QuenchBathandBody.com

The only product that I can never live without...Almay Line Smoothing concealer (Read my review HERE). I always include it in my monthly favorites because it's what I use the most. I use it as a base for my eye shadows and a great under eye concealer. You can get it your local drugstores for $9.99 or less. Or get it online at Drugstore.com

What are your favorites for the month of June?

Baby Your Baby's Skin With These Green Goodies!

I've been using Burt's Bees Baby Bee Bubble Bath on my son, Westley, since he came home from the hospital 8 months ago. The brand makes a Baby Bee Shampoo & Wash, but it dried out his skin and hair. I prefer the Bubble Bath to bathe Westley because it's tear-free, gentler on his sensitive skin, leaves his hair silky and manageable, and smells so good that I can't stop sniffing him after bath time. Plus, it gets him as clean as a shampoo and baby wash would - and he loves playing with the bubbles!

The sulfate-, phthalate-, petrochemical- and paraben-free is great for babying mommy's skin too. On many occasions, I'll lather up with this product because it smells THAT good. I never let Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Bubble Bath run out in my house. There's always a bottle on standby.

Bath time for Westley!

My son has very dry, sensitive skin so finding a lotion that deeply moisturizes without breaking him out was very important to me. I tried quite a few brands and nothing came close to Lavanila The Healthy Baby Butter. It's a 100% natural body cream that contains Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter and 30 essential vitamins and minerals. The non-greasy formula nourishes, soothes and protect against dryness. I apply The Healthy Baby Butter to Westley's skin twice a day – and when I'm through, it's like I just gave myself an ultra-hydrating hand treatment. Plus the fragrance is really amazing – soft yet intoxicating – like a baby should smell. I love this product so much that I buy 2-3 tubes at a time.

Review: Burts Bees Almond Milk Beeswax hand creme

Man, I just got home and I can't feel my cheeks and hands. It's fridgin' freeeezing outside lol. I like the cold but not when it's too cooold! haha...Ok let me turn on the heater and lets get on with this product review. Today's review is about my Burt's Bees Almond Beeswax hand creme. I got it from my local drugstore a while ago and I have been using it religiously every single day. I love it so much that I even included it in my November favorites. I use it on my hands and feet and it leaves them soft and moisturized.

PACKAGING, AMOUNT:
This product comes in a small glass jar. It's very solid and has a little bit of weight to it. It actually makes my purse even heavier than it is haha. I twist the lid to open and I use my fingers to get the product out. This can be a little unsanitary at times but hey...I just make sure I have clean hands before I dig in. There's 2.0 oz of product inside which I think is a good amount for a hand creme.

TEXTURE, APPLICATION, SCENT:
This is probably the thickest hand creme I've ever tried. It's thick and firm. I clearly remember the first time I used it, I had to really poke my finger down to get the product out. Now, the creme has gotten a little softer since I use it a lot. To apply, I use my fingers to massage the product on my hands and feet. It takes a little work to blend the product onto the skin and it feels greasy at first but it goes away quickly so it doesn't bother me.The scent is something you will either hate or love. It has a sweet almond waxy smell that I personally like haha! I know it's weird! It smells sweet and first sniff then you get a background of a wax-plastic-y scent at the end. You get me? You just have to really smell it for yourself LOL.

prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, water, beeswax, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, kaolin, fragrance, citrus grandis (grapefruit) seed extract, stearic acid, glucose, tocopherol, chondrus crispus (carrageenan) extract, sodium borate, glucose oxidase, lactoperoxidase
The main ingredient is Sweet Almond Oil which is a great emollient that softens, moisturize and even nourishe the skin.

RESULT:
You know a hand creme is really good when you don't have to re apply every 10 minutes. This product makes my skin very soft, smooth and moisturize for along time. The only time, I had to re apply is after washing my hands. It also feels nice on the feet like reeeeally nice especially on the sole where it tends to get really dry. For best results, use it at night before you go to bed. Let it marinate on your hands and feet.

It has a very thick consistency.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:
This is a great moisturizer not only for my hands but also my feet (you can also use it on your elbows and knees too). It's done an amazing job in keeping my skin nice and soft during this cold weather. The only thing I don't like about the product is the packaging. It looks nice but it's quite heavy and like what I said, it makes my purse even heavier ha!

availabity: drugstores
price: $9 or less. Price depends on the store.

Find Your Burt On Earth Day!

This April, Burt's Bees celebrates 40 years of Earth Day with a nod to none other than their namesake and co-founder, Burt Shavitz. Burt is no newcomer to the green arena: The beard and spirit behind the earth-friendly company participated in the first Earth Day celebration four decades agoand has been living lightly on the planet ever since. Burt has brought his love and respect for the natural world into the everyday practices of Burt's Bees for 25 years, and now he’s encouraging New York locals to "Find Their Burt" by discovering the earth-friendly potential we all share.

On April 22nd, 2010, Burt look-alikes will take to the streets of New York, handing out samples and urging folks to be as eco-friendly as Burt in honor of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. Passing out free "Burt" beards and hats, the Burt look-alikes will help transform the crowds into "Burts" themselves. Look for them near Rockefeller Center and in Central Park.

Burt's Bees will also be offering people-powered natural smoothies at a "Bike Blender" station in Times Square, where visitors can stop by and enjoy a smoothie featuring natural ingredients like milk, honey, pomegranate, and cranberry (some of the same natural ingredients you'll find in Burt's Bees® products). The pedaling action actually powers the blender, creating a wholesome natural treat with clean energy. This event will be part of Earth Day NY.

Everyone is encouraged to continue the search for their inner Burt at home by visiting FindYourBurt.com. The website invites you into Burt's worldand asks you to discover for yourself pieces of Burt's simple, nature-loving persona when you "Burtify" your image using an augmented reality tool. The real-time tool modifies elements of Burt on your image based on your eco-motives. The Burt possibilities are endless and so are the ways to love the Earth. This April, visit FindYourBurt.com to learn more about how Burt's Bees is living The Greater Good™ and discover your own inner (and outer) Burt.

Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme Giveaway

I'm cuckoo for Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme. It's the foot product I measure all others against...and nothing ever comes close to this dream cream.

This pampering natural foot treatment combines coconut oil, lanolin and vegetable glycerin to revive and rejuvenate even the driest, most neglected feet. There's also a hint of natural rosemary and peppermint oils to refresh tired feet.

For a luxurious way to treat your tootsies, soak feet in warm water for 10-15 minutes and rub gently with a pumice stone. Massage Coconut Foot Creme onto your feet, paying close attention to heels and calloused skin. Then cover your feet with cotton socks overnight to soothe and seal in moisture.

When you wake up, you'll swear that the magical foot fairy made a late-night house call.

I am so nuts about the Coconut Foot Creme that I'm teaming up with
Burt's Bees - and we're giving ten tubes away. Yay!

To enter, send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name and mailing address. The subject line should read "Coconut Foot Creme Giveaway." The contest ends at midnight (EST) on Wednesday, April 29th. Ten winners will be chosen at random from among the entrants. On Thursday, April 30th, I'll announce the winners' names. Please, only one entry per person; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning. Contest is open to U.S. residents only.

Good luck!

When Life Hands You Lemons: Be Fine Rough Spot Lemon Balm

It's human nature to be seduced by pretty packaging. And we gullible homo sapiens expect that inside said exterior, we’ll find something equally fabulous. Unfortunately, this misguided tendency is the reason why beauty buffs, like myself, end up knee deep in products we were so excited to buy, open and use that don’t live up to our expectations.

Such is the case of Be Fine’s Rough Spot Lemon Balm. The packaging looks like a lemon; it's so realistic-looking that if I left it lying around, Mr. Spoiled Pretty might take it upon himself to put it in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, the salve hidden inside is such a nothing-to-write-home-about product, it makes total sense that they worked so hard fashioning the container.

First, I assumed that the balm would actually smell fresh and citrusy…and it does, if you sniff really, really hard. Secondly, you literally have to dig the balm out with your fingernail to get any product in your hands. Finally, the balm is so greasy, it’s a hazard to your clothing, couch and carpet.

So what’s a beauty addict to do when life hands her lemons? Yep…make lemonade. So I dug into the salve with my nail and spread that grease balm all over my heels, arches and toes. Then I covered my tootsies with some old gym socks and let it marinate for a bit. Twenty minutes later, I did a preliminary check and was shocked to find that my feet had completely absorbed all of the product - but they didn’t feel softer or more moisturized…not at all.

Rough Spot Lemon Balm was disappointing - on so many levels - that I cannot recommend this product, despite the package’s high kitsch factor. One thing the product did accomplish, though, was to remind me about the awesomeness of Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Crème.

Slather it on, slide on some socks and hit the hay. In the morning, you’ll swear the magic foot fairy made a late-night house call.

Soften Your Lips and Save the Honeybees!

Did you know that one third of food we eat depends on bees for pollination?

You might not have given much thought to the role honeybees play in our ecosystem. But fact is, 30% of the fruit- and vegetable-producing plants we rely on to feed our families need honeybee pollination to thrive. That’s why the mysterious disappearance of honeybees known as Colony Collapse Disorder is a critical environmental issue that must be understood…because the without honeybees, our food is at risk.

The U.S. Senate has unanimously approved a resolution to recognize the vital role of pollinators in ecosystem health and agriculture by declaring June 22 - 28 as National Pollinator Week. Burt’s Bees is also doing its part to raise awareness about the disappearing honeybees, in addition to funding research to help find a solution.

This year, you can personally help save the honeybees by buying a tube of Burt’s Bees special edition Beeswax Lip Balm. Five percent of the proceeds will benefit The North American Pollinator Protection Campaign (NAPPC) and its Honeybee Health Improvement Project. In addition, you can take action today to help make the planet a healthy place for bees. Click here for a free packet of bee-friendly wildflower seeds that you can plant to give bees a healthy place to live in your neighborhood. And follow this link to find search for local organic farmers who naturally create pesticide-free, bee-friendly environments while providing local communities with healthy fresh produce.
