FOTN: Color Blocking Using MAC Pigments

The fashion trend this Summer is "Color Blocking". It's a combination of two or more solid colors that compliments each other in an outfit. Now, I may not have all kinds of bold and bright colors in my closet to rock a cool color blocking outfit such as ReallyPetite and LoveLifeFashion, but I can always do it with makeup. I can mix and match any bright eye shadow/lip colors to create a fun "Color Blocking" makeup look.

For example, I created this makeup look using bright yellow all over the eye lids, aqua teal on the lower lash line, then paired them with some pink lips. It's a fun look to sport this Summer. I think anyone can rock it as long as you have the confidence. I wore this look last night to the L.A. Film Festival and got a few compliments from younger women and the rest were weird "wtf" stares from guys haha...

All the colors I used on my eyes are by MAC. Partylicious pigment (aqua-teal with green/teal shimmers), Primary Yellow pigment (matte true yellow) and Shroom (satin champagne beige) eye shadow. Man, I don't even remember the last time I used all MAC on my eyes lol. You know me, I like to mix high end and low end, but I have these MAC pigments that I haven't tried, so I had to give it some love. It was my first time using them and they were amazing. I just had to be really careful when I opened the container because it can get messy.




False Lashes are ES A24 provided by KKCenterhk.com. These criss cross lashes are fun and dramatic. They are optional, but I like using them because it completes the look.

LOOK: Sunshine Makeup

I went to my friend's wedding not too long ago and I wore this bright yellow dress and my bf kept calling me Sunshine lol. He said I looked like a sunball  walking down the street because my dress was super glowy and bright and it was kind of blinding him  lol. I guess its his way of saying I'm beautiful ^_^.

I re-created this makeup look that I wore at the wedding that matched perfectly with my yellow dress. I did a defined neutral eyes and yellow/gold on the lids with pinky nude lips :). This look is a great bridesmaid makeup if your dress is yellow or just a pretty everyday neutral look for day time. I hope you guys like it!

Contest Entry: Bright Green and Yellow Summer Makeup

I have never done a super bright makeup look like this ever!!! It's a really Bright Green and Yellow Summer Makeup look and it's my contest entry for Makeupbyrenren or RenRen's Bright Summer Makeup contest on youtube sponsored by Palladio cosmetics. Like what I said in my video entry, I really don't care of I win or not. I'm just excited for the fact that Renren is holding this contest because I love ren ^_^

I chose the colors greens and yellows with a pop of turquoise blue-ish for my eyes because those are my favorite summer colors and I matched the look with some purple-y pink lips ^_^  It's super bright and super fun^_^ . Oh and, I have to apologize for the quality of the face pics. Those are still shots from the video.

I used almost all the colors from my 120 eye shadow palette that I got from ebay. I have a love hate relationship with this palette. Some colors are amazingly pigmented and some are not. Tip: Use patting motion when applying these eye shadows to deposit the color better and to get less fall out.

I mixed NYX round lipsticks in Lala (nude purple) and Power (Bright Pink) for my lip color.

Milani 3d lipgloss in Fashion Diva. I applied it on top of my purple-y pink lips.

FOTN: Black and Yellow eyes with the Perfect Nude lips.

I was looking through all my eye shadows and I noticed that yellow is something I rarely use. I've used more of bronze and gold shades and i really need to give love to other e/s colors. I decided to do a black and yellow dramatic look and I'm pretty pleased with how it came out ^_^

face:

Skin MD natural moisturizer
Smashbox Oil-free face primer. It will help the foundation to last longer
Almay line smoothing concealer in light under the eyes. (this shade is 2 shade lighter than my skin tone)
Mark's Powder Buff powder foundation in Golden applied wet.

cheeks:

Mac powder blush in Gingerly
Milani Mosaic Bronzer in After Glow for contouring the nose, temples and cheek bones

eyes:

Almay line smoothing concealer set with a powder as a base
Mac e/s in Cork above the crease (transition color)
Mac e/s in Carbon, matte black on the crease brushing a little bit above the crease. Deepen outer corners.
shimmery yellow e/s all over the lids.

I mixed Revlon's matte in Nude Attitude, NYX r/l in Pumpkin Pie and Orange Soda to get the right nude lips that I want that wont wash me out.
