Step 1
Cleanse, tone and moisturize before applying make up.

Step 2
Apply foundation. While choosing foundation, one should always choose a shade similar to that of the skin tone or a tinge darker. Foundation needs to be dotted all over the face and blended outward towards the hair line. To set the foundation, dust it with loose powder. Always blend foundation down to the neck.

Step 3
Fill in the eyebrows. Then comes the eye shadow. For a desi look, apply a highlight on the brow bone, the 'it' colors — an iridescent brown smoke on the lids contoured with black eye shadow (Dior 5 Color Shades Eye Shadows in Sweet Illusion, Nightdust), a black eyeliner on upper lid with lots of kajal on in the lower lids. Add mascara on lashes. The season’s trend is to add colored mascara on tips of the lashes. This helps catch more light and gives a dramatic look.
For the western look for the eyes, apply a highlight on the brow bone. Use fresh pinks, peaches, apricots or lavender on the lid contour with similar tone colors with darker shades (Dior 5 Color Shades Eye Shadows in Pink Attitude, Seascape, Sunset Cafe, Flower Blossom, Stylish Move). A thin eyeliner could be applied on the upper lid which could be smudged and followed by mascara.

Step 4
Highlight cheekbones with blush in smooth upward strokes. Rust and bronze go well with desi skin. For the western look, dust a fresh apricot/pink color. For the heavy Indian look dust an iridescent bronzer all over the face.

For the lips a rosy brown lipstick for the desi look. For the western look pinks and medium browns.
