Vimi and Mickey Talk About Spring/Summer 2008

M.A.C Masters
The looks were translated on Indian models by Vimi Joshi, Senior Artist, MAC Pro, Middle East & India and Mickey Contarctor, Director, Makeup Artistry, India. The makeup was well defined and adapted to the Indian looks and needs by the artists. Joshi who worked on the ‘Eye Max’ theme, emphasized the use of color in India and remarked on the beauty of Indian eyes. Mickey went on to bring ‘A Skin Thing’ closer home by first moisturizing and then mattifying the skin to ensure the skin does not shine through given the exigencies of the Indian tropics.

Spring Summer in India

Mickey On Indian makeup, Bollywood trends & More
Mickey Contractor, Director, Makeup Artistry, India for M.A.C briefly outlined the trends in makeup in Bollywood. “In Bollywood, it’s the makeup artist who chooses the brand that is to be used on the star unless the star is allergic to certain products and emphasizes on a particular brand”. He adds “in terms of makeup, girls have become much more approachable, there is a calming down of makeup compared to the loudness of the past!” “Given the themes of Indian movies that may have wedding scenes, one cannot go very light on makeup with colors” and moreover “colors are also used to define the various characters”. About his particular style Mickey says “I have never been text-bookish, shape of the face is not important, one has to keep the individuality of the person in mind”. Mickey has used M.A.C for the past 13 years starting with lipsticks and is now full-fledged with M.A.C.
