Lipstick Haul

Here is another great find at Ross. I really like posting things like these because its always cool to snag awesome stuff at a discounted price. I do buy highend or brandname cosmetics but I prefer to post random but cool things like these. Anyway, I was able to find these gorgeous lipsticks at my local Ross. The brand is called ELLE (LDL).

Photobucket
It came in a clear plastic box with 9 lipsticks

Photobucket
It came in 4 different finishes. Satin, Ultra Shiny, Shiny and Sheer. The texture is smooth and the colors are very pretty! It may look too dark in the tube but most of them are sheer. A small downside is that they are not long lasting and some of them are so sheer that it looks like lipgloss on the lips. But its buildable though. Also, the lipsticks were labeled in numbers. It would have been cool if they all have names :p

The best part is that all of these were only $4.99 ^_^
I dont know if they still have these at your local Ross, but you can sure check and see. Have a great one ladies :)

Eau de Off

I am highly allergic to mosquito bites. Which means that if I'm outdoors for any length of time, you best believe that I'm covered - from head to toe - in insect repellent.

So when my parents threw a backyard barbecue for Father's Day (when my in-laws were in town from Spokane, WA), I brought along a can of Off FamilyCare Smooth & Dry. It has a unique powder dry formula that dries on contact, leaving your skin feeling smooth and dry, unlike ordinary repellents. Plus it keeps mosquitoes, gnats, ticks, biting flies, chiggers and fleas at bay all day.

And I kid you not...Smooth & Dry has such a pleasant scent, someone actually asked me what perfume I was wearing!

The Curious Case of Taraji P. Henson's Hair

Back in the days of the 2009 Oscars and Independent Spirit Awards, I had a serious thing for Taraji P. Henson’s hair. So when she showed up to the MTV Movie Awards rocking a Jenny Humphrey mullet, I was all, "Oh no she didn't kick ole Bob to the curb!"

But I have to admit that her new edgy do is growing on me.

And how does she get her hair to shine like the top of the Chrysler Building? I wouldn’t be surprised if her secret shine weapon was Moroccanoil Gold Glimmer Shine. That spray is beyond compare!

Don't Forget About The Nordstrom Anniversary Beauty Exclusives Event

The Nordstrom Anniversary Beauty Exclusives Event doesn't officially kick off until July 17th, but you can get a head start on your shopping now. Beat the crowds and pre-order now so you won't miss out on the limited-edition sets and beauty bargains available only at Nordstrom during this decades-old annual ritual.

I recently got my hands on a sneak preview of Yves Saint Laurent 'All Fore Eyes' Set, one of this year's exclusive offerings.

All For Eyes includes a full-size Touché Éclat Radiant Touch No. 1 Luminous Radiance, a travel-size Instant Eye Makeup Remover, and a full-size Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara No. 1 in Black - which is responsible for the impossibly lush lashes I've been sporting as of late (True Blood-sucker Jessica, eat your heart out!)

Rise and Shine!

I am not always a morning person. There are times when I can jump out of bed, get myself ready, and feel like I can take on the world. But then...and more often...there are days when my alarm goes off and I can't move. Morning has come too early and all I want to do is curl up under the covers even though I have to get up and face the day.

Whether it's ennui, staying up too late, or over-indulging the night before, some mornings are just harsh. Even if you don't get enough sleep, there are a few tricks you can use to make yourself look more rested and ready to go. Try these:
  • Get your blood pumping. Sure, lying in bed may seem ideal, but try to get up and get physical. Do some jumping jacks, go for a brisk walk, or (better yet!) have a morning quickie with your honey. Getting your body moving and your blood pumping will improve your circulation and will get your skin looking more alive.
  • Hit the shower...but keep it cool. A cooler shower will stimulate circulation and will help you feel...and look...better when you're dragging.
  • Exfoliate! Wash away your dead skin and the remnants of your night before with a gentle exfoliating wash. Avoid the harsher exfoliators that contain glycolic acid since they can make your skin more sun sensitive.
  • Moisturize well. Give your freshly scrubbed skin a healthy drink with a good moisturizer. Be sure to use one that contains SPF to get extra sun protection.
  • Be a tea-totaler. Well...not really! But if you have bags under your eyes, place cool tea bags over your eyes for a few minutes. The caffeine in the tea will help to reduce any puffiness.
  • Apply concealer with care. Take care of your dark circles carefully. Try a concealer or foundation primer and apply it with a light hand. You don't want to over-correct and end up with circles that are too light around your eyes! Blend, blend, blend.
  • Go easy with the foundation. Remember that foundation applied too thickly can cling to lines and other imperfections, making them even more pronounced than you want.
  • Be rosy. A hit of blush will make your face look brighter and more alert. Don't skip this step.
  • Don't forget your lids. If you have dark circles and tired looking eyes, chances are you're focusing most of your time on your under-eye area. But you can also do a few things on your upper lids to make your eyes look more open. Try curling your lashes and applying a decent coat of mascara, especially to your outer lashes. Also consider embracing a 50s style cat-eye look by flicking your eyeliner up and out from your upper lids. Finally, a little nude liner on your lower lids or a hint of white liner in the inner corners can really make your eyes pop.
My final hint: stay hydrated. Don't go for the crutch of drinking cup after cup of coffee unless you want an nasty crash later in the day. Stick with water--plenty of it!--to keep your skin hydrated and everything functioning properly.

MAC Paints It Black For My Birthday

I don't usually enjoy knowing what I'm getting for my birthday. But I think I'll be able to find it in my heart to forgive MAC for opening its lipglass lacquered trap a few months early.

Turns out that the highly-anticipated Style Black collection will be released on my birthday. What makes this such a treat is that the collection will resurrect my favorite scrub of all time...like a phoenix rising from the ashes!

Since last spring's limited edition Future Earth collection, I've been rationing my Volcanic Ash Exfoliator like it was a bag of beans on a season of Survivor. With no idea that MAC had intentions of bringing this beauty gem back from the dead, I've been reserving this primorial soup-esque scrub for special occasions. But now that I know I can stock up come September (you've never seen hoarding like the kind I'm gonna do this fall), I'm gonna indulge in a little Volcanic Ash scrub-a-dub on a weekly basis.

Mark your calendars for September 24th, when these babies hit real and virtual shelves. Take it from me...you definitely don't wanna play the 'shoulda woulda coulda' game with this holy grail scrub.

The Style Black collection also includes:

Lipstick ($14)
Black Knight: Creamy true black (Cremesheen)

Mattene ($14.50)
Midnight Media: Dense matte black
Night Violet: Deep purple grape

Glimmerglass ($18)

Blue Flame: Black with blue pearl

Grease Paintstick ($17.50)

Nail Lacquer ($11)

Baby Goth Girl: Black with pink and purple pearl (frost)

#214 Short Shader Brush ($23)
Short, rounded, double-chiseled brush with soft, natural bristles. Can be used with shadow to line and smudge around the lash line and very effective for densely shading lids.

Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask ($19.50)
Heats when mixed with water to remove impurities from skin.

Lisa Hoffman Giveaway!

An avid traveler and true beauty connoisseur, Lisa Hoffman spent years traveling the world with her high-profile husband, Dustin, and their six children, immersing herself in diverse cultures and becoming well-informed about beauty secrets from around the globe. Throughout her travels, Lisa has methodically uncovered the most essential skin care ingredients, all of which combine to ensure potent and high performing treatment systems.

In 2007, after six years in development, Lisa launched her very own beauty line dedicated to excellence and simplicity. And in 2009, Lisa Hoffman and Spoiled Pretty are partnering for a giveaway!

Four kharmacally blessed readers will win Lisa Hoffman's Spa Facial Lip Polisher, which contains a slew of nourishing, moisturizing and exfoliating ingredients for a softer and smoother pout. Pineapple and papaya extracts slough away the dead skin cells that contribute to rough texture and uneven lip color application. After the dead cells are removed, honey, mango butter, soybean oil and jojoba oil soften and moisturize for a super conditioned finish. The result is smooth, comfortable and silky lips that are ready for absolutely anything.

To enter the giveaway, send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name and mailing address. The subject line should read "Lisa Hoffman Giveaway." The contest ends at midnight (EST) on Sunday, July 5th. Four winners will be chosen at random from among the entrants. On Monday, July 6th, I'll announce the winners' names. Please, only one entry per person; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning. Contest is open to U.S. and Canadian residents.

Good luck!

Cameron Diaz Did NOT Pull A Britney For My Sister's Keeper

In her latest film, My Sister's Keeper, Cameron Diaz plays the mother of a girl battling leukemia. In a particularly poignant scene, her character shaves her locks in an act of solidarity with her eldest daughter. But don't be fooled. Cammie didn't actually pull a Britney. It was just a wig cap and some clever movie magic.

She tells Metro newspaper, "If I shaved my head and my hair was this long right now, they would have me in a lab somewhere. Kerastase or L'Oreal would have already taken me somewhere."

My BDAY Wishlist

Since I love Miss Lorrainey (and her blog too) I figured I would join in the fun and do a b-day wish list also because hers was so fun.
For those of you wondering my birthday is July 16th (I'll be tha big 2-5...EEEEK)

*This is not an actual list I would give to someone or expect to get all of or anything. These are more like things I would just buy for myself...haha

My ultimate want for this year was a trip to Vegas...
...which actually is happening! Leaving July 9th with my friend Ashley. The trip began with a simple phone call to her from me explaining how we needed to go see New Kids on the Block again (yeah...you heard that right) toward the end of their tour somewhere close to home. Bad idea sending me to check out the remaining dates...I saw Vegas and my eyes lit up. Vegas...SO not close to where we live...lol. So we're seeing them again at the Palms in Vegas on the 11th and turning it into a full out b-day weekend. So excited!!

Louis Vuitton Damier Canvas Speedy 35- Azur
I love the classic Speedy design. I have a traditional brown monogram Speedy 30 already and while I love the monogram print, I've always really wanted this particular light blue Damier print. I think it's a little less "flashy" and "WOOO loooka my Louis!!" than the monogram one. Plus I always feel weird when I carry something that is really flashy and has designer labels stamped all over it just because I always feel like a giant ass when I combine that with my Chanel Sunglasses or glasses. It's just too much. So I really love how understated this one is. Plus, it's just a gorgeous bag.
I live kind of close to a few LV stores, but I think it would be exciting to maybe buy in Vegas...?? ;) Especially since there's a LV store at my favorite place in the whole world--The Forum Shops....hmmm

Canon Powershot SX10is
Love this camera....NEED this camera. I was going to buy it a few months ago, but it had been on backorder for a while. It's in stock at my Best Buy now, so I might pick it up soon!

House of Harlow earrings
I looove both of these. I think Brad is getting them for me :)

Kirra White Suede Wrap bracelet
So cute and summery!

Wallflower refills from Bath and Body Works
I lOVE these. I have at least one in pretty much every room of the house. Yep. Even the closet :)
My favorite scents are Spiced Cider, Velvet Tuberose, Brown Sugar and Fig, Passion Fruit & Guava, and Coconut Lime Verbena.

***A long massage at my favorite spa***
I so need this. Period.
