Go natural - that was the mantra for make-up during the 70's. Eye shadow and blush were used minimally. Shades stayed natural and nude. Pastel colors like light pinks, light mauves, peach and white were among the most popular eye shadow shades. If blush was ever used the shades were closest to skin tones. In fact, the bronzed tanned look made waves during the decade. Eyeliner was worn with the effect that it turned outward towards the end of the eye (cat eyes). Mascara made its way out during this decade. It was used for the occasional evening out, but was not part of essential day make-up at all. The lips stayed as natural as ever with softer pink, peach and nude shades being most popular.
