Couture Make-up Trends: Suneet Varma

Bhalla begins by evening out the skin tone with foundation. Next, he creates a metallic eye with three iridescent powders—pewter, gray and blue—blending with black, one into the next, for an almost ombré effect. "The trick is to go from thin to thick. When you begin applying eye make-up, you go thick with the strokes. Start from the outer corner; that way you go thicker in the outer corner to thinner in the inner corner. Finish with a slick black line and smudge it with black or brown powder," he advises.

Once the eye color is in place, Bhalla brushes the top and bottom lashes with mascara. He enhances the cheekbones with a light metallic pink blusher before patting soft pink shimmer powder to highlight the cheeks.

A slick of pale gloss adds a shiny finish. "For a look as strong as this, you must play it soft on the lips. Don't go for dark eyes and a dark mouth; it may look interesting on camera and on the catwalk but it doesn't look good otherwise! Opt for pale lips – glossy or matte," is his advice.
