Jennifer Behr Online Trunk Show & Sale

When it comes to hair accessories, you can't get more gorge than Jennifer Behr. Her works of art have been seen in the pages of Vogue, on the Fashion Week runways, and perched atop the head of the Upper East Side's queen bee.

Now through Tuesday, January 26 - in preparation for their Spring Collection - Jennifer Behr is offering a range of styles from 2009 previously seen in the press, on celebrities, or in stores...and, for the first time in JB history, they've put select styles up to 75% off!

Petite Spikes Headwrap, $36 (75% off)
Be prim and punk proper in this dangerously delicate headwrap. Petite nickel spikes - too darling to harm - are embedded into a thin length of slick patent leather. Pretty tough. Finished at back with elastic for a custom, comfortable fit.

Double Rose Barrette, $50 (50% off!)
Two elegant hand-curled silk roses on an automatic barrette. could be a bit gothic romance, or else summer garden party. This piece doesn't have to be formal - pin into a dishevled twist, or a smooth chignon.

Patent Orchid on Skinny Headband, $50 (75% off!)
Sculpted patent orchid floats right above the ear on a skinny headband. Hand-pressed, wired orchid petals. The patent petals are embossed with all the delicate details of orchid leaves. Great for short haired ladies. Worn by Leighton Meester, aka Blair, on Gossip Girl's season 1 finale.

Rope Knotted Headwrap, $86 (50% off!)
Ultra thick black cording is fashioned into a high-sheen, voluptuous knot that is more gothic glamour than nautical. Use it to tame a free flowing mane, or to add polish to an updo. Finished at back with brass caps and elastic for a perfect fit.

Wide Lattice Headwrap, $15 (75% off!)
Charming wide lattice headwrap, made of vintage ribbon material and finished at back with leather tabs and elastic for a comfortable fit.

Double Rosette Headwrap, $76 (50%)
Featuring two hand-rolled rosettes on silk satin, this 2 1/4" headwrap is finished in the back with elastic. Can be worn to create a beautiful vintage look. As seen on Gossip Girl's Blair.

Jennifer Behr accessories are usually quite a splurge, so this online-only event is the perfect time to pick up some hair baubles that won't break the bank.

*Each piece was originally handmade to order. Sale styles are limited in quantity and are offered until they are sold out.

Be Warned, Ladies: Boys Are On To Your Bumpits

A few weeks ago, Mr. Spoiled Pretty left to meet up with some of his buddies and I stayed home to catch up on some blogging and bad reality television. Just as I was getting ready for bed that night, I received the following text message from my husband:

"What's a Bumpit?"

Turns out our friend, Chris, noticed the waitress's sky-high hairdo and asked her if she was wearing a Bumpit - like the one he had seen featured in the ubiquitous infomercials. There was no shame in the bar maid's game...she fessed up to wearing a Bumpit, and seem amazed that Chris had guessed her pompadour partner-in-crime.

So what's the moral of the story, chicas? Boys are getting wise to our beauty tricks. If you decide to rock the Bumpit, don't be surprised when someone outs you...or if a candid pic ends up on the Bumpit Sightings Blog.

Fall Beauty Trends on the NBC 10! Show - Plus a Giveaway!

As you probably know, today is the official kickoff of New York Fashion Week, Spring 2010. In fact, I'll be traveling to NYC on Saturday to attend Fashion Week events and report from backstage. But before we move forward, let's take a look back to Fashion Week, Fall 2009. Last spring, I went behind the scenes at some of the hottest shows - and noticed some emerging trends.

Last week, I appeared on the NBC 10! Show to talk about five of the fiercest beauty trends for fall - and introduce viewers to must-have products to help them nail the looks.

Watch and learn...

For more of my NBC 10! Show appearances, click here!

In honor of my latest TV appearance, I'm giving away a selection of the products featured in the segment!!! One lucky winner will receive:

Revlon Brow Specialist Kit: The set includes three brow stencils in varying degrees of arch to fit every shape, tweezers, a universally flattering brow pencil, and brow gel - all in a sleek carrying case.

Urban Decay Ink For Eyes Liner (all six shades!): More precise than a pencil and more forgiving than a liquid, this super-smooth formula offers more control, and buildable coverage than your average liner. The angled liner brush creates a razor sharp line, and the formula lasts all day (or night). Available in six gorgeous colors: Binge (midnight blue), Demolition (brown), Empire (eggplant), Loaded (deep green), Pyrotechnics (iridescent glitter with clear base), and Zero (black).

Goody Resort Glamour Kingston Bobby Slides: These are the next generation of bobby pins. They are some of the most darling bobby pins I've ever seen, and come in a selection of shades sure to match your personality, hair color and/or ensemble.

OPI Matte Collection (all six shades!): OPI recently released six of their best-selling shades in non-glossy formulation. The collection includes: Alpine Snow(a fresh crisp white), Gargantuan Green Grape (green kissed by the summer sun), La Paz-itively Hot (a hot pink perfect for when you’re Bo-livia la vida loca), Lincoln Park After Dark (where midnight meets purple), Russian Navy (wait until you see this deep-sea indigo!) and You Don’t Know Jacques! (if you don’t know how trendy this taupe is!).

To enter the giveaway, send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name and mailing address. The subject line should read "Fall Trends Giveaway." The contest ends at midnight (EST) on Thursday, September 17th. One winner will be chosen at random from among the entrants. On Friday, September 18th, I'll announce the winner's name. Please, only one entry per person; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning. Contest is open to U.S. residents.

Splurge and Steal: Must Have Hair Accessories

Two blogs on my daily must-read list just tipped me off to two must-have hair accessories.

Splurge: This Sailor's Knot Headwrap by Jennifer Behr is now on my radar, thanks to The Beauty Department at Lucky Magazine.

Steal: Teen Vogue's beauty blog clued me into these adorable Twig Hair Pins, which are available at Mai McKemy's Etsy shop.

Get A Handle On Your Hair Elastics

Last week, BellaSugar recommended this Fab Hairband Elastic Ball from Forever 21, for you gals who have major probs keeping track of your hair elastics. At $3.50, it's definitely a cheap and chic way to stay organized. But here's my tip (and it's free)...

You know that mini hairbrush that lives in the bottom of your handbag? Wrap, like, 10 hair elastics around the handle; you'll never be caught in a bad hair situation, without a way to reign in your mane.

You're welcome.

ZannClip Giveaway Winners!

Congrats to LaKendra T. Conyers, Danielle Marklin, and Jolene Wassmer - winners of the ZannClip giveaway. Each of these ladies will receive the ponytail holder/barrette/hair clip hybrid, in their choice of size and color!

If you didn't win, I highly suggest that you just buck up and buy your own...it's that good. And right now, take advantage of the company's spring special promotion - purchase any three items and take 20% off at checkout.

Many thanks to ZannClip for hooking my readers up...and for creating such a ridiculously ingenious hair accessory.

And stay tuned for Spoiled Pretty's next giveaway!

To enter, send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name and mailing address. The subject line should read "ZannClip Giveaway." Since When Can You Sleep Soundly In A Hair Clip?

If you asked me, a week ago, to name my favorite tried & true hair accessory, I would have said my trusty hair elastic. Old elasty and I go way back and we're thick as thieves. 99% of the time, I'm pretty unimaginative when it comes to my hair; Monday through Friday, then again on Sunday, my hair is pulled back into a ponytail - and my hair elastic does a pretty decent job of keeping my uninspired style in place.

But I've changed my tune, since being introduced to the ZannClip - an ingenious accessory that functions as a ponytail holder, barrette and hair clip...and looks sophisticated and chic whilst doing so. And here's the kicker: one night, I fell asleep wearing the ZannClip - and awoke from peaceful slumber to find it still perfectly in place. At night, I'm all Princess and the Pea - the slightest noise or discomfort keeps me awake into the wee hours. Yet the ZannClip didn't affect my quality of sleep. Plus, when I took my hair down, it didn't leave any crimps or dents in my hair! So I could quickly re-style my hair without fussing or fighting the texture. How many hair clips can make those claims?

The ZannClip is available in three sizes and 14 shades...but I say, go for the gold (24 karat, that is) or platiunum plated. Play the video below to watch the ZannClip in action, then try NOT to buy it.

Recessionista's Fabuless Pick of the Week: Claw Clip That Won't Give You a Headache

Mama Spoiled Pretty kidnapped me on Saturday. Well - not for real, for real. Kidnapping is the term my sister and I use to describe my mom’s habit of holding us hostage during an otherwise enjoyable shopping excursion. This is usually how it goes down…

Mom proposes a shopping trip to one of our favorite destinations: Banana Republic, Bloomingdale’s, DSW, Forever 21, Lord & Taylor, Marshall’s, Nordstrom, Sephora, or TJ Maxx. So we get in Mom’s car and drive off, hoping that whatever we’re hunting for will be waiting for us at the store, in our size, perched on the sale rack. After a few hours of retail therapy, our dogs start barking and we get into the car to drive back to my parents’ house…or so Lauren and I think.

When we’re almost back home, my mother veers off course - and next thing you know, we’re somewhere not fun, like Walmart. And it’s never a quick trip either. Mom will spend 45 minutes pushing her cart up and down aisles before she even starts looking for what's on her list. And Lauren and I revert to preschool-ish behavior - like whining or saying we have to go to the bathroom - to encourage Mom to move faster than molasses.

But I have to admit that being kidnapped this past weekend wasn’t too bad. While my sister occupied herself carrying out her signature prank (Lauren likes to throw a couple of random items into Mom’s shopping cart, just to watch her hilarious reaction at the register), I killed time in the beauty aisle. I was in desperate need of a hair clip, so I perused the selection from Goody. Goody has never let me down before, so I picked up their new Ouchless Flexible Claw Clip. Not only did this clip not disappoint, I was pretty impressed - because it holds your hair in place without the annoying inconveniences of other claw clips.

First, the clip has covered hinges, which eliminates snags. Second, the teeth are curved in a way that prevents them from digging into your scalp - love that! Finally, the teeth are flexible - so go ahead and lean back, lean back, lean back, lean back. The people at Goody are a bunch of Albert Einsteins, I’ll tell you what.

For less than $4, you get two medium-sized clips…plus motivation to throw out all of those inferior claw clips that have been a pain in your cranium all of these years.

For Best Use Of Hair Accessories, The Award Goes To Rihanna

For best use of hair accessories, the award goes to Rihanna. RiRi would like to thank the academy...Star Academy, that is.

On Friday night's season finale of the French singing competition, Rihanna accessorized her faux hawk with a halo of Swarovski crystal hair pins.

The looks that Rihanna (or her stylist) comes up with boggles the mind.

You don't need a superstar budget to recreate this look. These rhinestone hair pins (above left) are only $20 for a set of six at Beautiful Bridal (I purchased my bridal tiara via this online retailer and was beyond pleased).

A Tail Of Two Headbands

Just in case you've been somewhere and just got back, allow me bring you up to speed. Braids are all the rage. Anybody who's anybody has been spied sporting milkmaid plaits, cornrows, and microbraids.

Wanna join the braid brigade, but got two left hands? Or don't have the time to brush your hair, let alone braid it? Don't be discouraged. It's Tonytail to the rescue.

The Tonytail Company has these great braided headbands, made of soft, synthetic hair. For a chunkier look, try Thick Braidies (1/2 inch). Thin Braidies (1/4 inch) are for stylistas going for a more subtle interpretation of the trend.

I wore both Braidies all over NYC for Fashion Week. The dark brown color was such a perfect match to my own hair that I received countless compliments - from friends and strangers.

Check me out (accompanied by the lovely Amber and Marina) rocking the Thick Braidies headband at a Fashion Week dinner, sponsored by MAC. It's all about the braided hair, baby!

Hair Band Nightmare

The other day, Mama Spoiled Pretty forwarded me an email about hair elastics being fashioned from recycled condoms. Incredulous – because it sounded completely absurd and because I get ten thousand of these ridiculous emails from my mom – I decided to consult snopes.com to check the validity of this urban legend. Turns out it’s true…allegedly.

OMFG: Gossip Girl Winners Revealed!

Spotted: D leaving her laptop with the Geek Squad after the hard drive crashes. Looks like Spoiled Pretty has rotten luck. Oh, the humanity!

Sorry, my pretties. I meant to post the names of the Gossip Girl winners earlier, but my computer died and, for the last 12 hours, I've been a blogger with no means of blogging. My laptop is still out of commission, but I've procured another computer for the time being. In the midst of Fashion Week, my first concern is my readers. You know you love me.

So without further ado, the winners of the Gossip Girl Giveaway are Aleksandra Burshteyn and Heidi Little! They have both won the Grosgrain Edie Headband and the Linen Open Work Headband from Colette Malouf. Aleksandra and Heidi will also receive Gossip Girl: The Complete First Season on DVD!

Congratulations on your prizes, ladies. Special thanks to Colette Malouf and Warner Home Video for sponsoring this giveaway. And thanks to the many Gossip Girl fans who participated.

On Spoiled Pretty, giveaways are always in fashion. So stayed tuned for the next contest, inspired by my whirlwind trip to New York Fashion Week.

You know you're intrigued...

Gossip Girl Giveaway!!!

Bonjour, my pretties. Long time, no blog. Miss me?

After spending the holiday weekend in Seattle, I made it back to Philly just in time for the highly anticipated season premiere of Gossip Girl. The newest eppy “Summer, Kind of Wonderful” delivered the drama, picking right up where season one left off.

If you’re a fan of Gossip Girl, you understand that it’s more than just a television show. It’s a study in style…an Elle editorial personified. The series has some serious fashion cred, as evidenced by its guest appearances. Tonight’s episode featured Tinsley Mortimer (who made a cameo at the white party) and Michael Kors, who will guest in a fashion week-themed episode.

Last week’s giveaway fell through at the last minute…and I feel so awful about it that I pulled out all the stops, this time around. So this week, I’m spoiling you, Gossip Girl style...

Spotted: D hosting a giveaway at SP, in honor of the GG season two premiere!!!

Two lucky readers will each win two haute headbands, courtesy of Colette Malouf, dubbed the “undisputed queen of hair accessories” by New York Magazine.

Her name might not ring a bell, but there’s a good chance you’ve seen her work on Sex and The City, on the runways of Michael Kors and Derek Lam, and on the likes of Oprah, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway.

The winners will channel their inner queen bees with Colette’s artistic accessories. The Grosgrain Edie Headband (top left) suits Blair, the preppy Park Avenue princess. Steal Serena’s Upper East Side style with the Linen Open Work Headband (bottom left).

Winners will also receive Gossip Girl: The Complete First Season.

Relive the wit, romance, drama, mystery and scandal of season one with this 5-disc, 18-episode set of DVDs that also features:

* Gossip Girl 411 Featurette
* GG Couture Featurette
* A Gossip Girl Wedding Featurette
* Music Videos
* Gag Reel
* FREE downloadable audiobook of Cecily von Ziegesar’s bestselling novel, narrated by Christina Ricci!

To enter, send an email to spoiledprettycontests@gmail.com. Be sure to include your full name. The subject line should read "Gossip Girl Giveaway." The contest ends at midnight (EST) on Sunday, September 7th. Two winners will be chosen at random from among the entrants. On Monday, September 8th, I'll announce the winners' names. Please, only one entry per person; duplicate entries will not increase your chances of winning. Contest is open to U.S. and Canadian residents only.

You know you love me for this one.

xoxo,

Spoiled Pretty girl
