Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lashes Mascara

As a big fan of Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Mascara, I am positively giddy to learn that there's a new member of the Lancôme mascara family. It's called Hypnôse Doll Lashes and its mission is to deliver doll-like lashes, instantly.

This eye-opening new mascara, which was seven years in the making, delivers this doll-lash effect in two ways. First, the cone shaped, triple patented I-conic brush provides an extremely smooth application and defines even the hard-to-reach corner and lower lashes. The bristles offer ultimate separation, making it easy to layer without any clumping. The glide-on formula is enriched with nylon powders that meticulously sculpt and curl each lash for a voluminous, jet-black finish. A combination of hard and soft waxes volumize and curl while shaping polymers lengthen. The result is an instant wide-eye look.

Three of the glamorous faces of Lancôme - Daria Werbowy, Elettra Wiedemann and Arlenis Sosa - will launch the Hypnôse Doll Lashes campaign. Hypnôse Doll Lashes is now available exclusively at Dillard's and Dillards.com and will roll-out nationally in September.

Makeup Mondays With Mario: You, But Better

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Hi Mario,

Usually, I don't wear much makeup. In fact, I usually just wear some sort of lip balm and then I'm out the door. But I recently decided to start putting some more effort into my look. So can you share some tips and products to help me look put-together, but natural? I want to look like a prettier version of myself - but I also don't have a lot of time in the mornings to apply makeup. Thanks a lot!

-Joan

Hi Joan,

I’m glad you've decided to show yourself some love by putting forth the little bit of effort to be a prettier you. Starting with just a few products will have you looking naturally beautiful and smiling in no time.

Tinted moisturizer, applied with your fingers to your face and blended into your neck, will even out your skin without feeling heavy at all. My favorites right now are from Laura Mercier and Lancome. Use a bit of concealer under your eyes to brighten up and also on any red or dark spots - try Smashbox High Definition Liquid Concealer.

If you brows need grooming, be sure to have this done. It gives an instant lift. Try filling in your brows with a brow pencil and focus on the mid to outer corners for the most natural result. Brow Tech To Go, also by Smashbox, is a personal fave. You can set your brow with the brow gel on the other end of the pencil.

Curl your lashes as I can’t stress enough how huge of a difference it makes. Just do it! LOL. Follow with a basic black mascara on top and bottom lashes and you won’t even need liner.

Looking in the mirror, smile and apply a bit of blush to the apples of your cheeks. To find the right shade for you, I recommend you go to a department store and have a makeup artist help you out. Another option is to choose a couple of drugstore shades and test them at home.

Answering this question brings back fond memories for me, so I will share them with you…

My mother never wore any makeup her entire life - aside from lip balm - and she still doesn't. I do remember, though, that on very special and rare occasions, she would take out this pinkish, natural lipstick tube and in front of the mirror, softly dab it a few times on her lips, barely applying any color. Next she would very gently and cautiously dab that same lipstick onto her cheeks, followed by a smile in the mirror. All together, this took about 20 seconds. I’d stare up at her and smile because I thought she looked so beautiful that way. I’m smiling again right now at this memory, even twenty years later.

Thanks for visiting Makeup Mondays with Mario!

Maybelline Volum' Express the Falsies Washable Mascara

I hate mascara ads. Hate them. People get bent out of shape about magazine airbrushing. Well, mascara ads are my pet peeve. The lashes in said ads are always so exaggerated that no matter what amazing results the mascara actually yields, you end up feeling cheated because your fringe still doesn’t look as fantastic as it does in the ads.

So, speaking of false advertising…a while back, Maybelline sent me a tube of their Volum' Express the Falsies Washable Mascara to test and review. At first, I was really disappointed that it didn’t look the model’s. But then I had to stop myself and think rationally. Obviously, the lashes at left have been creatively super-sized and no one in their right mind should expect to look like that, post-application. So I put the advertisement out of my mind, stood in front of the mirror again and took an objective look at my lashes. And you know what? Ad, schmad…Maybelline Falsies Mascara is ab fab – and I’ll tell you why.

First, Falsies has just the right consistency. I’m like Goldilocks when it comes to mascaras. I hate when the consistency is too thick or too watery. This one is just right – coating evenly without clumping. And over time, it doesn’t dry out like so many on the market. Another reason to love Falsies: the curved brush grabs every lash – lengthening and volumizing them to their true potential. For gals with sparse lashes like me who have little to work with, you know that this is a big deal. Finally, I absolutely love that the formula is buildable. So many mascaras claim to be buildable – and then you layer on coats only to wind up with clumped up, tarantula-looking foolishness. The Falsies Mascara builds perfectly. Apply one coat for a natural, “maybe she was born with it” doe eyes. Layer on multiple coats and your peepers will be batting a thousand.

I’m so impressed with Falsies that I’d say it’s a close second to my #1 mascara, Lancome’s Hypnose Drama Instant Full Body Volume Mascara. They’re alike in many ways…well, except for the $16.50 difference in price.

Honestly, Falsies’ mascara is so great that Maybelline didn’t even need to augment their ad. The actual results speak for themselves, and the $8 price tag is just icing on the proverbial cake.

Lancôme Définicils Precious Cells Mascara Giveaway!!!

Lancôme's latest mascara, Définicils Precious Cells, is now available exclusively at Nordstrom and Nordstrom.com. Définicils Precious Cells is the first mascara from Lancôme to regenerate the condition of lashes, all while delivering definition with lash by lash fullness. Lancôme’s newest ambassadress Julia Roberts is the face of the new mascara.

Définicils Precious Cells Mascara contains the nourishing apple lysate ingredient found in Lancôme's Absolue Precious Cells skincare collection, and boasts an entirely new creamy texture. Just as with the original best-selling Définicils, this formula not only defines lashes beautifully, but also creates a fuller lash look. A blend of five, triple-coated waxes delivers lash fullness from the lash root to tip. Additionally, the new Définicils Precious Cells Mascara formula glides on smoothly while enveloping lashes with conditioning agents. It’s also super-easy to remove, reducing the chance of lash loss.

It wouldn’t be a Lancôme mascara without an innovative, performance-driven brush and Définicils Precious Cells Mascara is no exception. The new multi-faceted brush was specifically developed to work with the creamier formula. The short bristles help deposit the formula in between the lashes, while the flexible, longer bristles allow for a clean application. In combination, the formula and brush deliver optimal lash by lash fullness.

Définicils Precious Cells Mascara is $29 and, as I mentioned before, is now exclusively available at Nordstrom. In August, you can find it at Lancôme counters nationwide and on lancome-usa.com.

But this week, you can score a tube for FREE! Yup…that's right. Lancôme is sending me a sample to try (I wonder how it compares to my favorite lash lengthener of all time, Lancôme Hypnose Drama) and another mascara to give away!!!

Enter to win by leaving a message in the comments section. Make sure to leave your email or another way for me to get in touch, just in case you're the lucky pretty woman!

Contest is open to U.S. and Canadian residents. The giveaway ends at noon (EST) on Friday, July 9, 2010. Good luck!

Blush Blast From The Past: Benefit CORALista

You know what’s almost as fun as a new beauty product? It’s when you re-discover an oldie but goodie that you forgot that you had.

For the past several weeks, NARS Blush in Torrid has been step 2 of my three step/minute makeup routine (step/minute 1 being Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara and step/minute 3 being either Lancome Juicy Tubes 100% Natural Origin in Rose Pretty, Avon Glazewear Lip Gloss in Rave or Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss Stick in Nude Almond topped with Make Up Forever Fascinating Lip Gloss in #10). But this morning, I decided to switch it up and go fishing in my bottomless basket o' blushes. What I came up with was Benefit CORALista Blush – and after sweeping it on my cheeks and admiring myself in the mirror, I can't believe I ever let CORALista slip my mind.

It imparts the most gorgeous, coral-pink glow that looks ab fab on a multitude of complexions. What I love most about CORALista is how effortless it looks; it applies like a dream and the blush actually looks like it's coming from within. Another reason to put CORALista on your shopping list? Coral happens to be the it blush shade right now (ladies, if don't know…you betta ask somebody ).

Oh, and did I mention that the blush – besides looking fantastic – smells fantastic too? It has this light floral scent that, while completely unnecessary, is totally genius. CORALista comes with an applicator brush, but for best results, I like to apply with my ecoTools blush brush.

Get The Look: Nikki Reed at Eclipse Premiere

Makeup artist Fiona Stiles created Nikki Reed's red carpet look for last night's Los Angeles premiere of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. On her blog, Fiona writes:

"Nikki's Marchesa dress was so beautiful and feminine we went for a soft etherial look, with just a touch of girlish color on the lips. I prepped her skin with moisturizer and then a thin layer of Orlane's Eclat Absolut for a soft glow. I used a light application of foundation and a dusting of loose powder before adding a little rosy color to the cheeks, just a touch to keep it sweet. I wanted to have a light, easy eye, so I used a very light pink shadow, up just past the crease in the eye, with a little of a lavender grey over it for depth, then popped a little of the light pink into the corners of the eyes to add a little light to the face. Instead of liner I used a creamy taupe color from Ellis Faas (one of my new favorite products) near the lashes for a softer definition, then a little mascara on the top and bottom to finish it off the eyes. A matte pink lipstick gave the look an easy sweetness."

Skin Prep:
Yonka Pampelmousse moisturizer
Orlane éclat Absolu (for luminosity)

Foundation:
Armani Luminous Silk #7

Powder:
Chantecaille Loos Powder in "Ray"

Blush:
Jouer Mineral Blush in "Rose"

Eyes:
Cle de Peau Satin Eye Eolor #114
Jouer "Parfait" eyeshadow
Ellis Faas "Creamy Eyes #E107"
Lancome Virtouse Mascara in Black
Anastasia Brow Pencil in "Brunette"

Lips:
Lipstick Queen "Pink Sinner" lipstick

Makeup Mondays With Mario: Fab in Five

Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic is answering your burning beauty questions!!! Every Monday, he will answer a beauty/skin care question as part of a weekly column on Spoiled Pretty, Makeup Mondays with Mario.

Hi Mario,

I don't have a lot of time in the morning to put on makeup, but I hate leaving the house bare-faced. Can you give me some quick tips or products I can use to look fab in five minutes?

PS - You're awesome!

Lily

Lily,

To look fab in five minutes is very possible! You need concealer, bronzer, mascara and a lip product. Start with dabbing concealer under your eyes or wherever it's needed to even out your skin. You can also apply a tinted moisturizer; they are usually very sheer, allowing for quick application and blending. I love Lancome SPF tinted moisturizer. Using a big brush, sweep bronzer around the frame of your face and a bit on cheeks to warm you up. Try Guerlain's Terra Cotta Tan Booster. It's a great rich color that goes on sheer and doesn't have much shimmer in it. Take a small brush and sweep some on your eyelids too. Mascara on the top and bottom lashes will finish the eyes and - then throw on some lipstick or gloss to finish. You should be looking fab in no time.

Thanks for visiting Makeup Mondays with Mario!

xo,
Mario

Juicy Tubes 100% Natural Origin

Lancôme's Juicy Tubes, the iconic lip gloss that kicked off the gloss frenzy, is turning 10! Introduced in 2000, it quickly became a cult product thanks to its unique tube applicator, high shine and yummy flavors, inspiring must-have limited editions, Facebook fan pages and even a series of imitators. A decade later, it's still beloved by makeup artists and a slew of influencers, including Angelina Jolie, who wore Spring Fling to the 2009 Academy Awards, and stylist Rachel Zoe, who's never without a much-used, much-loved tube in her bag.

To celebrate this beauty birthday, Lancôme is launching Juicy Tubes 100% Natural Origin ($18), a limited-edition gloss with honey as its main ingredient. The formula, flavors and pigments are 100% natural origin and preservative-free. Juicy Tubes 100% Natural Origin is available in four shades: Pink Precious, Rose Pretty, Blushing Beauty, and Sheerfully Sweet.

For Earth Day 2010, it was a natural fit to partner with Lancôme spokesmodel and environmentalist Elettra Wiedemann’s charity, Justonefrickinday.com. Its mission is to unify and concentrate available resources onto a small number of special charity projects around the world. By logging on its website, you can calculate and donate just one day of your daily pay to make a difference. The charity’s latest project will raise funds to help install Solar Electric Panels that will provide sustainable power to a hospital in one of world’s poorest countries, Burundi.

From April 22nd through April 25th, anyone who purchases Juicy Tubes 100% Natural Origin at the Lancôme Boutique on the Upper West Side in NYC will receive a complimentary limited edition tee (created by some of the hottest designers, including House of Diehl, Rag & Bone, Giambattista Valli, Rogan, Chris Benz and Phillip Lim). Lancôme will also make a donation to justonefrickinday.com to kick off this special Earth Day offering.

Oscars Beauty 2010: Demi Moore

Demi Moore was a vision at the Academy Awards, from her dusty rose Versace gown to her easy updo to her softly dramatic makeup. Celebrity makeup artist Jo Strettell did the beauty honors for the always-stunning Demi.

For Demi's complexion, Jo mixed two Giorgio Armani foundations—Luminous Silk Foundation and Lasting Silk UV SPF 34 Compact Foundation—and swept YSL Touche Éclat under the eyes and around the nose. Lancôme Blush Subtil in Rose Fresque, just on the apples of the cheeks, brightened her complexion.

Jo created the soft, smoky eye with Lancôme Color Design Eye in Ciel du Soir on the lid and Color Design Eye in Honeymoon as a highlight from right above the lid to the brow bone and on the inner corner of the eyes. Lancôme’s Le Crayon Khôl in Gris Noir lined the eyes and Jo softened the look by smudging the line. The lashes were curled with a Shu Uemura lash curler, followed by several coats of Lancôme Hypnôse Drama in Excessive Black on the top lashes and Ôscillation Mascara in Black to the lower lashes.

For Demi's lips, the combination of Lancôme’s L'Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere and Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling created a pretty, nude lip that had just enough pop.

Oscars Beauty 2010: Kate Winslet

Lancôme abassador Kate Winslet looked resplendent at the Academy Awards yesterday, clad in an Yves Saint Laurent gown and bold jewelry from Tiffany & Co.

Kate's long-time makeup artist, Jillian Dempsey, topped off the look with soft, ethereal makeup. Both the eyes and the lips got equal attention on this Oscar winner. Shimmering, champagne-pewter shades highlighted the eyes, while very saturated mascara delivered that extra definition. A pop of pink blush on her cheeks gave Kate just a hint of a natural flush. Jillian topped off the look with nude-pink lips.

Get the look with:

EYES
* Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Kohl Eyeliner in Black
* Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black
* Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Blushing Raisins (using the Raisin shade for definition)

Look What I Recently Rescued From Sephora

Now that my I'm pregnant, a beautiful thing happened. My skin decided to act like it's got some sense. Seriously, my skin developed behavioral issues circa 1990 and has been screwing with my self esteem ever since...until recently.

I used to be that girl who wouldn't dare leave the house barefaced for a night out or a special occasion. I just couldn't get away with it. Now, not only has my complexion drastically improved, but I also have that fabled pregnancy glow...and I don't want to cover it up with the full coverage foundation I have in my beauty arsenal.

So last week, I decided to pay my little friend, Sephora, a visit. Mama needed some new makeup.

I ended up purchasing:

Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in Tan
Laura Mercier Undercover Pot in 4
Lancôme Hypnose Drama Mascara

At $42, Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer is pretty pricey. But is just so happens to be the best tinted moisturizer I have ever used in my entire L-I-F-E. And Laura gets big props for the wide range of shades. Can I get a hallelujah, brown girls?

Though I've been getting more sleep lately, I've started getting dark circles under my eyes - which I never had before. The shadows beneath my eyes were detracting from my glow, so those suckers had to go. I bought Laura Mercier's Undercover Pot because after spending an hour testing almost all of the concealers at Sephora, this one reigned supreme. Undercover Pot is a travel friendly pot with two amazing concealers: Secret Camouflage (oil free and stays in place all day long to cover blemishes, scars, and imperfections) and Secret Concealer (the emollient formula combats dark circles and allows for a smooth application in the sensitive eye area). The pot also includes Translucent Loose Setting Powder, which adds a velvety finish.

The Lancôme Hypnose Drama Mascara was a re-purchase. I just cannot be without this product. It is my mascara soulmate. I'm sure my friends at Lancôme would have replenished my stock; they're aware of how much I adore Hypnose Drama, but I didn't have time to wait. My old one was, well, old and I needed a new tube stat.

In the above pic, I'm wearing another of my new favorite products: Hourglass Cosmetics' new Prodigy Lipgloss. Hourglass sent me a sample a few weeks ago, and it has been a staple in my handbag ever since. I love the sleek packaging and non-tacky texture. If you're one of those girls who loathes a sticky lip, you are going to LUVRE this gloss. It come in six gorgeous shades, but "Legend" shade is my fave...it's like my natural lips, except 100% sexier. It is also available at Sephora.

Grammy Gorgeous: Ciara

"For Ciara's Grammy red carpet look, I prepped the face with shu uemura's new UV Under Base Fluid in Medium Beige (goes on sale online February 11th at shuuemura-usa.com)," said makeup artist Yolanda Frederick. "I then followed up with shu uemura's Nobara Cream Cover Stick foundation in 524 for a flawless golden finish. Julia Roberts on Being Lancôme’s Global Ambassador

Moments before making her debut as Lancôme’s global ambassador, Julia Roberts was coming to grips with her new responsibilities, reports today’s Women’s Wear Daily. In a candid interview, Roberts talks about her role in her upcoming movie Eat, Pray, Love, owing her career to Garry Marshall, her new role at Lancôme and how having kids has changed her beauty regimen.

On being Lancôme’s global ambassador: "I think I have to stand up straighter and wash my face more," Roberts laughed. "It's kind of like every girl’s dream, really," she continued, referring to her role with the L'Oréal-owned brand. "To be 42 and have three kids and be a working mom, it’s a great moment to be asked to do this and to be able to do it. I think it says a lot about Lancôme and what they stand for."

On filming Eat, Pray, Love: "It was quite a huge undertaking. It was a little bit daunting, dragging three little kids around the world, but well worth it...It was really like the acting Olympics," continued Roberts. "It's been a long time since I've had a full-time acting job. I am really glad that I made the decision to go off and do that movie."

On her beauty regimen after having children:"It kind of comes to a screeching halt. At a certain point in the future, I'll pick it back up again...I think the nice thing about getting older is it forces you in a way to take a greater interest in your [beauty] regime. And so it's a good moment for me to join forces with people who can help me."
