My 2010 Loves!

I'm going to show you my favorite products of 2010. I initially planned on doing a December favorites but a 2010 favorites is more appropriate. I'm going to share makeup products that stood out to me for the past year. It was a bit difficult to decide on what products are going to be included in this post but I just thought about products I reached for the most whenever I do my makeup. The products will be in random order so here it goes...

Milani single eyeshadows. These drugstore eyeshadows are always going to be my favorites. In my opinion, these are one of the best eyeshadows in the market.  They are pigmented, easy to blend and they come in a variety of beautiful colors and for only $3.99, you really can't beat it! My favorites are Shock which is a dual chrome pinky purple shade and Rich Chocolate which is a matte dark brown. I use it to fill in my eyebrows.

NYX single eyeshadows. These are also one of my favorites because they are great quality with an affordable price tag. They're only $5.50 and are very comparable to many highend  brands. The texture is soft and silky and they blend very well. I have too many favorites from this line but the one I reach for the most is Highlight. It's a french vanilla shade that goes with every eye makeup I do.

NYX Doll Eye Long lash mascara. I was instantly hooked, the first time I used it. It's supposed to make your lashes long and it really does! It's amazing! It retails for $9 bucks and it's a little bit expensive in my opinion but it's worth it.

I know, another NYX product lol. These NYX round lipglosses are like liquid lipsticks that glides on smoothly on the lips and are so pigmented and opaque. The only downside of this product is the old drawer scent it has lol. But it doesn't bother me too much since I reach for these when I want a quick splash of color on my lips.

Milani mosaic blush in Afterglow is my everyday contour shade. Even though it has a bit shimmers in it, it doesn't make my face look muddy or orangey.

Mac Mineralized Skinfinish natural in Medium Deep is the best face powder I've ever tried. It's a sheer to full coverage powder that looks natural on the skin. It's almost impossible to make this powder look cakey. It also gives a slight sheen on the skin that looks glowy and not oily.

Mac blush in Gingerly is my favorite blush that I reach for the most. It's a capri bronze shade that goes well with any makeup look I do.

Wet n Wild nude lipliner in Willow. I went through a lot of these lipliners in the past year because I pretty much use them every single day. It gives me the most natural looking nude lips.

Yes to Cucumbers Facial Towelettes. These makeup wipes are so refreshing and soothing to the skin. It was my life saver during the hot summer days of L.A. I used these to cleanse my face and neck to cool me down.

Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation. This drusgtore liquid foundation is the one I reach the most whenever I do my makeup. It blends well onto the skin, the coverage is buildable and it isn't lying when it says "colorstay". It really does stay on your skin for long time with or without a foundation primer.

Rimmel London lipstick in Spotlight is so moisturizing on the lips and applies like a lipbalm. It also gives me a natural looking nude lips great for everyday lip color.

Almay Line Smoothing concealer is my everyday concealer. It's liquid which makes it easier to apply under the eyes because it's very light. Application is very easy because of the doe-foot applicator. I just do dots under my eyes then blend with my finger. I own 2 shades, one in medium/light which I use during the day to cover up slight dark circles and blemishes and light for night time to give me bright under eyes ala Kim K ^_^

E.L.F. Studio 11 piece brush set includes all their Studio line brushes plus a sleek carrying case. They are well made brushes made from Taklon bristles which makes them great for either wet or dry products. They are very soft with sleek handles that feels great. I use their flat top powder brush, blush brush, c-brush and angeled liner brush the most.

These are the products that made me look pretty in the past 2010. I love them and I will continue to use them.  I hope you guys find it very helpful.

Yes To Cucumbers facial towelettes

This product review is based on my own personal experience. Keep in mind that it may or may not work for you. Just keep an open mind.

These are not the best wipes I've tried but I still love it for a many of reasons. I've been using  my Yes to Cucumbers Natural Glow facial towelettes for a month now and, I just realized I better do a review on it before I ran out. I own 2 packs. I keep one on my vanity table for an easy reach whenever I need to remove my makeup and the other one in my purse to freshen my face during these hot, icky L.A. weather.

I must say that it did a good job in removing my foundation but not so great on my eye makeup. But that won't keep me from loving this product because it gave my face a fresh and clean feeling and I love the fact that I can use it anytime of the day. It's not the best but its really good and I will re purchase.

WHAT: According to the website: "Whether you're out and about, or hanging at home, we want to make sure you don't get the runaround when it comes to keeping your gorgeous face clean. Yes To Cucumbers Natural Glow Facial Towelettes gently remove dirt, sweat and makeup without the need to rinse! It's an exfoliant, detoxifyer and rejuvenater all wrapped up in one on-the-go biodegradable wipe, keeping you free and fresh-faced." (source: yestocarrots.com)

• 98.7% Natural
• Biodegradable & FSC Certified
• Dermatologically & Opthalmologically Tested
• Oil-free, non-comedoenic, hypoallergenic

So it's a facial wipe to cleanse the face and remove makeup without water. I like this idea and that's why I keep a pack in my purse. I can just pull one out, wipe it on my face and neck and instantly feel fresh. Also, it's almost all natural (98.7%) formulated with organic cucumbers to nurture the skin, green tea for antioxidants and aloe vera to soothe the skin.

WHERE: You can purchase it at your local drugstore. I bought mine at Walgreens. Check their website for other locations.

AMOUNT: 30 towelettes. It will last you for about a month or so depending on how much you will use them.

PRICE: $5.99. Its very affordable and you get 30 in a pack.

PACKAGING: It's a cute green container with a snap lid on top. It keeps the wipes from drying out.

INGREDIENTS:Water/Aqua, Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Sodium Benzoate, Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe Vera), Sea Salt /Maris Sal (Dead Sea Mineral Salts), Camelia Sinensis Extract (Organic Green Tea Extract), Cucumis Sativus Extract (Organic Cucumber Extract), Benzoic Acid, Parfum/Fragrance, Xanthan Gum, Dehydroacetic Acid, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Citric Acid

SCENT:  It has a strong fragrant to it. It smells really fresh and clean with a hint of cucumbers in my opinion. I really like it but others may find the scent too strong.

SKIN TYPE: It's suitable for all skin types especially for sensitive skin (says on the website). I have oily and non-sensitive skin and, I didn't experience any irritation, redness or breakouts.

Wipes are made from FSC fabric which are 100% biodegradable. They're very sturdy.

HOW:
- Wipe in circular motion or start from the center of the face moving outward to remove concealer and foundation.
- Gently press the towelette on the eye lids and wipe off the makeup. Don't tug on the eye area, wipe gently.

It did a great job in removing my foundation, concealer and lipstick but it didn't really remove my water proof mascara and gel liner on my eyes. I didn't like that I had to go back and wipe several times or more to remove the eye makeup completely . But this doesn't bother me too much since I usually use an eye makeup remover first then follow it up with a facial wipe.

PROS:
  • It has beneficial ingredients like organic cucumbers, aloe vera, dead sea minerals and green tea.
  • It's great for all skin types
  • It didn't irritate me my skin/eyes.
  • It removed all my foundation.
  • It didn't break me out.
  • It gave a cooling sensation.
  • It felt very clean and fresh.
  • Loved the snap lid. It kept the wipes moist.
  • Ahhh...it smelled lovely...like fresh and clean scent
  • affordable
 CONS:
  • Even though the scent didn't bother me, I feel like it may be too strong for some especially for people with sensitive skin. But then again, it all depends on the person.
  • It didn't completely removed my water proof mascara and gel liner. I had to go back and wipe several times to really get rid of it.

FINAL THOUGHTS: So it didn't do an awesome job in removing my eye makeup, but I still love it because it was able to remove the rest of makeup pretty good. It even left my face a cool clean feeling with a fresh cucumber scent. Also, I love how I can use it anytime of the day whenever my face needs a little pick me up. I will definitely re purchase ^_^
