Becky's November Favorites 2010

I just want to share my favorite makeup and skin care products for this month of November. I've discovered  new loves and I included some old favorites that never fails. Here they are ^_^

The combination of the wonderful trio of NYX eye base in skin tone, Mac Mineralized Skin Finish Natural in medium deep and Urban Decay Primer Potion is my ultimate favorite eye base that keeps my eye shadows from creasing. Were talking about 8 hours of staying power. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself. Apply a small amount of the NYX eye base on the lids, brush any powder on top and finish it with the Urban Decay Primer. Crease free!!!

Wet N Wild creme lip liner in Willow. What's not to love? It's creamy, pigmented, the perfect nude for medium skin tone and it's only 99cents!

Yes to Carrots lip butter in Melon. I raved about this lip balm on a previous review. I still love it and I use it everyday. I keep it in my purse for an easy reach whenever I need to moisturize my lips. It also smells delicious. Click here for my review.

Palladio baked blush in Choc-au-lait. It's a beautiful copper/bronzey shade with gold shimmers. It give my cheeks a nice sheen without making it look oily. Read more about it on their website.

Burt's Bees Almond Milk hand creme. This is a new love. It's rich and thick texture really moisturizes my hands for a long time. I also love the sweet almond jelly scent..so yummy! You can get this at your local drugstore.

Yes to Cucumbers facial wipes. Love this stuff. I actually bought my 3rd pack last week. I also raved about these wipes on a previous review. It gently removes my face makeup and it has a fresh and clean cucumber scent that you will surely love...mmmm! You can purchase it at your local drugstore and click here for my review.

Cellnique Intensive Hydrating gel and Skin Action Sebum gel. These were sent to me my the company for a possible review. I'm thankful for the opportunity to try these products because they're seriously amazing! I will have a formal review on these products very soon.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. What are your favorites this month? Hopefully you can share them.

NYX e/s in Red Head

NYX is one of my favorite makeup brands and I love their line of eye shadows. There are so much colors to choose from, they are pigmented, easy to blend and they are very affordable. I would like to introduce you to an NYX eye shadow single in Red Head.

Oh man the word Red Head reminds me of Pippi Longstockings with her braids and freckled face lol, super cute! Yeah I'm weird but that's just me. Well in this case, Red Head is an eye shadow and its a bright reddish pink color. Its really pretty and it looks more like a blush shade than an eye shadow right? I showed it to my friend who knows nothing about makeup and she thought it was a blush color. She was like,"that's the smallest blush I've ever seen" lol.

The texture is very soft and smooth and non powdery at all. This swatch is one swipe on my finger. It's pigmented right?

Hope this swatch helps ^_^. Thank you so much for reading my blog and welcome to my new followers!

NYX Eye Shadow Base in Skin Tone

You can't just slap on an eye shadow on your eye lids and expect it to stay on all day. You need to put some type of base or primer underneath to make it last longer. You should know this if you're a makeup junkie ^_^ I have tried soooo many eye bases and primers. But in the end, I learned that you have to figure out what works for you!!! I'm gonna tell you guys right now that this NYX eye shadow base in skin tone is not the best that I've tried but I still like it for several reasons. It makes my eye shadows vibrant, I use it to high light my brow bone and I use it to make my eye brows stand out.

WHAT: To get the maximum brilliant color of eye shadow on your eye, an eye primer is a must! Apply eye shadow base to eyelids, then apply NYX's high-pigmented eye shadows and see the colors pop with vibrant and sparkling luster. Eye shadow base grabs and firmly holds finely milled powder so the color in the pot is what ends up on your eye - without a pinch lost.

I suggest to google it because a lot of places carries nyx products. You just have to find them.

ODOR: It has a nice scent to it. To me, it smells like a bar of soap ^_^

SHADE: Skin tone. But its also available in White and Pearl.

Swatch

You can barely see it swatched on my arm.

Next to Mac's Paintery Paint pot. The paint pot looks bigger but NYX  actually has more product.

HOW: There are many ways I use this product.
  • I dab my fingers directly in the jar and apply a small amount on my eye lids and blend it evenly and thinly.
  • I sometimes use a brush instead of my fingers
  • I use it to highlight my brow bone
  • I use it to make my eye brows stand out by applying it right underneath and above my brows with a small angled liner brush. Try it! It works really well.

PROS:
  • It makes your eye shadows vibrant and saturated.
  • Its very creamy therefore its easy to blend.
  • Evens out the skin tone on the eye lids.
  • It comes in a light plastic jar.
  • Very affordable.
CONS:
  • It didn't work for me. My eye shadows creased after 3 hours. I tried many ways to make it work like setting it with a translucent powder or applying it on top of Urban Decay Primer Potion but still didn't work.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: I think its a decent eye base. It's not amazing but it's okay. Even though it didn't do what its supposed to do, I still love this product. As stated in HOW, I use this product in many ways. Also, just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean that it won't work for you. I know many makeup blogger friends that swears by this product!

Tips on how to make it work (maybe):
  • Don't apply to much and make sure its evenly and thinly blended.
  • Try applying it on top of Urban Decan Primer Potion or L'oreal Decrease.
  • Try setting it with a translucent powder.
Thanks for stopping by and good luck in finding the eye base that works for you ^_^
