FOTN: Color Blocking Using MAC Pigments

The fashion trend this Summer is "Color Blocking". It's a combination of two or more solid colors that compliments each other in an outfit. Now, I may not have all kinds of bold and bright colors in my closet to rock a cool color blocking outfit such as ReallyPetite and LoveLifeFashion, but I can always do it with makeup. I can mix and match any bright eye shadow/lip colors to create a fun "Color Blocking" makeup look.

For example, I created this makeup look using bright yellow all over the eye lids, aqua teal on the lower lash line, then paired them with some pink lips. It's a fun look to sport this Summer. I think anyone can rock it as long as you have the confidence. I wore this look last night to the L.A. Film Festival and got a few compliments from younger women and the rest were weird "wtf" stares from guys haha...

All the colors I used on my eyes are by MAC. Partylicious pigment (aqua-teal with green/teal shimmers), Primary Yellow pigment (matte true yellow) and Shroom (satin champagne beige) eye shadow. Man, I don't even remember the last time I used all MAC on my eyes lol. You know me, I like to mix high end and low end, but I have these MAC pigments that I haven't tried, so I had to give it some love. It was my first time using them and they were amazing. I just had to be really careful when I opened the container because it can get messy.

False Lashes are ES A24 provided by KKCenterhk.com. These criss cross lashes are fun and dramatic. They are optional, but I like using them because it completes the look.

FOTD: Bright Under Eyes and Doll Pink Lips.

This is the makeup look I wore today. Not so exciting is it? LOL. I mentioned in previous FOTD that I'm currently into simple makeup looks with light eye makeup and bold lips. It's not that I don't want to play with eye shadows anymore, I'm just really liking how my eyes look without too much makeup and I play more on the lips by choosing a bright and bold lipstick or gloss.

For this look, I did a soft contouring on the eyes using MAC blush in Gingerly. This blush is my current favorite. It's light enough to be a blush and dark enough at the same time to be used as a contour shade. I then brightened my under eyes with a light concealer (Physicians Fomula Strength Rx in Soft Yellow). This is a bit tricky to pull off.  You really must blend the concealer very well. I used a damp sponge to pat the concealer down until it blends onto the skin and slightly blend it down the cheekbones. I guess I should do a tutorial next time to show you how I do it. It makes my face look bright and awake. I defined my face by applying a bronzer (Milani Mosaic blush in Afterglow) under my cheekbones and the jaw line. I never skip this step. I like how it pops up my cheek bones and makes my face look slimmer.

face:
-Rimmel Fix and Perfect foundation primer

-NYX Round Lipgloss in Doll Pink (review/swatch)

For my lips, I first applied Wet n Wild Mega Last lipstick in 901B Think Pink. It's a soft pale nude pink. I was able to pull off this shade a month ago. I've gotten a bit darker, so now it looks pasty on me. To make it work, I topped it with NYX Round lipgloss in Doll Pink, which is a bright fuchsia with purple undertone. It looks much better.

I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend!

FOTD: Thin Winged Liner and Coral Pink Lips

Lately, I've been into simple makeup looks: light eye makeup and more emphasis on the lips. It's just like my last FOTD, but with a thin winged liner, lots of mascara,  pale pink on the water line to open up the eyes, and a pink lips for a pop color. It took me about 10-15 minutes to create this look. It's simple yet so pretty!

The thin winged liner added interest to the eyes without making it too dramatic. It's also easier to do than thick winged liner, which I always have trouble with. Just extend the line passing the the outer corner of the eyes and slightly flick the brush upwards.

Products used:
face:
-Yes To Tomatoes brightening moisturizer
-Rimmel Fix n Perfect face primer
-Mark Face Xpert liquid foundation

brows:

eyes:
-ELF Eye Primer
-L'Oreal Million Lashes in black
-Benefit Eye Bright pencil

cheeks:
-MAC powder blush in Gingerly

lips:
-Wet n Wild nude lip liner in Willow
-NYX Round lipstick in Miracle

On my lips is NYX Round lipstick in Miracle. This is my first time wearing this shade, and I'm surprised with the staying power. Usually, NYX Round lipsticks fades on me in a matter of 2 hours, but this one lasted 6-7 hours without any touch ups. I will do a post showing a before and after in the next post.

This is the makeup look I wore to the Eco Tools event yesterday. See it HERE. I was only there for a short time. I met the friendly staff of Eco Tools and gave my used products in exchange for coupons and a free brush, then rushed back to work lol. I'll talk more about it in another post.

Thanks for stopping by!
