Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Goody!

Goody, the omnipresent hair brush and hair good manufacturer, is auctioning off pink hair brushes signed by celebrities over at ebay. New brushes are being auctioned off each week. Celebrities participating in this campaign include: Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Simpson, Amanda Bynes, the cast of Grey's Anatomy, and others. Click here to bid and here for the auction calendar.

If a signed hair brush doesn't float your boat (I must admit that this does nothing for me!), Goody is also offering some pink ribbon inspired products, the proceeds of which will go to Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women with breast cancer to have the best quality of life possible. These much more enticing products include pink headband, scarves, hair brushes (sans autographs!), and elastics.

Did you know?
Race and Breast Cancer: Breast cancer does not discriminate--it affects whites, Asians, Hispanics, African Americans--everyone. According to the National Cancer Institute, white, non-Hispanic women have the highest overall incidence rate for breast cancer among U.S. racial/ethnic groups, while Korean-American women have the lowest rate. Among women ages 40 to 50, African-American women have a higher incidence of breast cancer than white women. African-American women also have the highest mortality (death) rate from breast cancer; Chinese-American women have the lowest death rate.
