Quick Tip: How to take off mascara smudge.

Yesterday, I was in a rush applying my makeup that I accidentally poked my eye with a mascara wand. Ouch! I blinked and smudge mascara on the bottom of my eye O_o. This happens to me at least twice a week because sometimes I get too impatient. But instead of getting mad, I quickly grabbed my camera and snapped a few photos and turned the moment into a potential blog post lol.

So here's what the mascara smudge looks like. If this happens, the best thing to do is to leave it alone and let it dry. It's easy to remove when it's dry because it will flake off.

Once it's dry, I got a clean Q-tip and carefully wiped it off. It flakes off easily, so you don't have to do a lot of rubbing.

Then I touched it up with powder and voila...It's nice and clean again like nothing happened ^_^.

I hope this quick tip is helpful.

How I Groom My Eyebrows

I go to the salon once a month to get my eyebrows reshaped. Then I just maintain the shape by grooming it. They grow really fast, so I have to trim and tweeze at least twice a week O_o. It's not my favorite thing to do, but I have to do it. I don't want to have to keep going to the salon and waste money if I can do it myself.

So here is how I groom my brows. Keep in mind this method may or may not work for you. We all have different brows. I just want to show you how I do mine ^_^

What I use:
-brow comb
-manicure scissors
-a good tweezer

1. Here is my brow looking a little funky. I know it doesn't look that bad, but I don't like to wait til it gets bushy and crazy before I fix it lol.

2&3. Using brow brush or mascara wand, brush the hair down on the outer half and trim the the longer hairs until it's all even with the rest.

4. Brush the hair up on the first half and trim the excess hair that sticks up.

5. Pluck any stray hairs.

6. Brush it one more time and you're done. It's now ready to be filled with either a brow pencil or eyeshadow powder.

Hope this was helpful ^_^

How to: Make glitters stick on your lids/skin

I got a question in my email from an anonymous reader. "What do you use to make glitters stick on your eyes?" Using them are so much fun and it adds more interest to your look. On the other hand, I hate how its gets all over the place ugh! So what do I use to make those sparkly bad boys stick? clear lip gloss! I like to apply it thinly on my lid on top of my eye makeup. I like to stay under the crease the eye to prevent creasing. Then I use a sponge tip applicator to pat on the glitters. It still gets a little messy but the outcome is worth it ^_^

My 2010 New Year look using lipgloss and bright blue glitters on  my lids :)

TIP: cold eye cream/gel

Hey readers, I hope everyone is having a great Spring break. I'm feeling under the weather again and, I'm trying to get better because I'm going on a quick vacation with friends on Tuesday. I sure don't want to miss it. I'm drinking lots of OJ, hot tea with lemon, downing my dayquil O_o and eating lots of fruits.

Anyway, I just wanted to share a quick tip you can do with your eye cream/gel. I put my Alba eye gel in the fridge over night. Then I take it out in the morning and apply it around my eye area. It feels really good ^_^ Its cooling, soothing and instantly de-puff my eye bags.

I put in a small ziploc bag to protect it from odors and stains.

TIP of the day. Make your eyeliner stay.

Hello readers, I apologize for the lack of comment response. My internet has been messing up for a couple of days and, I havent been able to visit everyone's blog. Also, Its kind of difficult to keep up with everyone. But I try my best. So thank you for all the comments, awards, nominations and for your time.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Using an eyeliner is a great way to define one's eyes. On the other hand, they tend to fade and melt away easily and will sometimes give you racoon eyes by the end of the day. In my opinion, it doesn't metter if its a high end or low end brand eyeliner. It will fade. So heres a quick tip to prevent that.

Tip: Set your eyeliner with an eyeshadow powder

Photobucket
Apply your favorite eyeliner pencil on your waterline. I used black.

Photobucket
Use an angled brush and dip into a similar color eyeshadow. Tap off the excess!!! you don't want to get too much product on your water line.

Photobucket
Gently pat it on where you applied the eyeliner. This will set the eyeliner in place.

Try it! and I hope this helps ^_^

Keep in mind that this tip may or may not work for everyone, so do it at your own risk. Also, I do not recomment this tip if you wear contact lenses because irritation may occur. Read the comments below to find out how it worked for my readers.

Eye Primers and etc ^_^

When I started with makeup, I was so into eyeshadows. I didn't know any better and I always wondered why my eyeshadow fades within 30 minutes of application.  It has always been a problem. It took me awhile to realize that I was skipping an important step in my makeup application. I wasn't putting any primer or base on my eyelids.

What is an eye primer?
-Eye primer is a base that you put on your lids prior to eyeshadow application to even out the skintone, makes the eyeshadow last longer and some claim that it makes the color of the eyeshadow more vibrant and true to its color.

Its purpose is plain and simple right? But the number of different kinds of eye primer available in the market can be a bit overwhelming when you're trying to find the right one that works for you.

Urban Decay Primer Potion $16.00
my very first eye primer

I'm pretty sure these are all great products. On the other hand, I've tried some of them and it just didn't work for me. I've tried Urban Decay primer potion, Too Faced shadow insurance and Mac's Prep and Prime eye. Even with a tiny amount blended evenly on the lids, It still didn't work. Creasing of eyeshadows occured within an hour or two.

But I found out a product that has been sitting in my makeup kit that works so well as an eye primer. My liquid concealer!! Yes, it actually works!

Photobucket
A photo of my eye lid. Its oily and the skintone is uneven.

Photobucket
I like to use Almay line smoothing concealer for its creamy texture and anti aging properties. This can be found at any drugstore. You can also use a liquid foundation.

Photobucket
I love the wand applicator.

Photobucket
I simply apply an efficient amount on my lid

Photobucket
I blend it carefully with my finger. Never tug! Tugging and pulling causes wrinkles.

Photobucket
I use my favorite face powder (Mark's powder buff) or you can use a translucent powder and apply it on top of the concealer.

Photobucket
The powder will set the concealer in place.

Photobucket
It's done. I just created a smooth and crease free canvas for my eyeshadows.

Keep in mind that we all have different eyelids so this may or may not work for you. This is what works for me and I like to share it with all of you ^_^

What is your eye primer??

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!

My Favorite Beauty Tips and Tricks.

Through out the year, Ive learned many makeup tips and tricks that really works for me. I learned from makeup gurus, makeup books and other makeup artist. So in return, I would like to share a few of them with all of you and, I hope you guys can get something out of it. This is for you Thiamere.

1. Priming the eye lids. Its is important to prep or prime the eye lids before eye shadow application. This step would prevent the shadows from creasing or fading. It took me a while to find the right primer for the eye lids. I have slightly oily lids. I've tried urban decay primer potion, too faced shadow insurance, paint pots, mac's eye prep and prime and etc. and they all didnt work for me. One thing that worked was a concealer. Yes! Its always been lying around my makeup kit. I wasted money in trying so many products when the answer has always been in my kit.
Photobucket
Almay line smoothing concealer is my everyday concealer.
Photobucket
Apply a small amount on the eye lids and blend evenly.

Photobucket
Set it by applying translucent powder or you all over base e/s.

Photobucket
It's done. Its now ready for a creaseless e/s application (well atleast for me it is).

2. Long lasting Eye Liner. Whenever I apply my favorite black eye liner on my water line, It always melts away after 5 minutes. This used to bother me but anymore more. I figured out a way to make my eye liner last longer.
Photobucket
My favorite black eye liner by Urban Decay. (Im almost done with it).

Photobucket
Line your water line with the eye liner. Make sure not to pull too hard.

Photobucket
With and angled e/s brush dip it in the same color e/s powder.

Photobucket
Dab it on top of the eye liner. This would set the eye liner in place.

Photobucket
It's done! Whenever I do this, my eye liner stays put for a good 6 hours.

3. Long Lasting Lipstick. This trick really works for me and Makeup Artist like Eve Pearl and Kevyn Aucoin uses this trick to make the lip stick last longer.

Photobucket
Prepped the lips by applying a lip balm to moisturize. This would prevent the lipstick from cracking.

Photobucket
Lined the lips with a lip liner and apply your favorite lipstick.

Photobucket
Seperate a 2-ply tissue and use one sheet at a time.

Photobucket
After the first coat, blot the lips with the tissue and set it with a powder and re apply lipstick, then blot again . This way, it will absorb excess oil and leaves the pigment.
Photobucket
Apply your favorite lip gloss and you are done!
4. DIY Tinted Moisturizer. I dont own a tinted moisturizer so i always make my own. Its very easy. Everything you need it in your makeup kit already.
Photobucket
Just combine and mix your favorite moisturizer and liquid foundation. I only use a little amount of the liquid foundation for a sheer finish.
So there it is. I hope you ladies can benefit from my favorite makeup tips and tricks. All of them worked for me so I hope they work for all of you too.
