New Urban Decay Cream Shadows

These new gel- based cream shadows from Urban Decay are simply amazing. The colors are absolutely insane...from the brightest blues and deep emerald greens to more natural shades, there is something for everyone.
What they are...

Urban Decay Cream Shadow channels the sex appeal of the 70's and the science of today. Whipped to perfection, each shimmering shade dries to a weightless layer of color that will not crease, fade, or hide in fine lines. Unlike most cream shadows, the gel-based formula features silicone technology, allowing time to blend, correct, and smudge. Once dry, shadow is light and as flexible as your own skin. -Sephora.com

I tried every single one of them and the colors are quite impressive. They are $17 each and there are 12 shades to choose from. I purchased two, Whipped (a peachy gold) and Delinquent (a deep, but bright purple). I have a feeling I'll be back for Radium (yep, the same gorgeous blue as the liquid liner) and Grass (a bright emerald).

Delinquent and Whipped:
I love the packaging. The wand is a doe-foot applicator. Or, you can apply by squeezing product directly from the tube. (Why can't they make the Primer Potion in a larger container like this??)

Superbowl Spa Day at Bliss

On Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers will meet in Tampa Bay for Superbowl XLIII.

If you’re a fan of either team, you could wear your team pride on your fingernails - with fun nail decals like these. Or you could take a page from this uber-fan’s playbook - and take the “tramp stamp” to a whole nuther level.

Classy.

If you’re bitter - like me - because your team won't play on Sunday (my Philadelphia Eagles choked in the NFC Championship Game*) or don’t give a kitty about football at all, Bliss has some great alternative activities planned

*Though I'm upset that my Eagles won't represent in Sunday's game, I still have much love for: Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook and Brian Dawkins. I ain't mad at ya, boys!

I Can See Clearly Now, The Acne’s (Almost) Gone

It is with wholehearted exuberance that I recommend Philosophy’s On A Clear Day products for all of you complexionally challenged readers out there.

After months of feeling defeated by my adult acne, I decided enough was enough; it was time for me to take back my skin. Problem is, the dead of winter isn’t the best time to be messing around with an acne regimen that can strip already desiccated skin.

Most acne products leave my skin so flaky that it looks like my face has dandruff. No joke…like I’m molting. So when I heard about Philosophy’s new On A Clear Day line, I felt compelled to sacrifice my face in the name of beauty. Philosophy has never done me wrong before, so I decided to take a gamble. And, let me tell you, this one paid off with rich dividends.

After only testing the system for five days, my skin was significantly clearer and brighter - with no drying whatsoever! I couldn’t believe that acne products this gentle could yield such noticeable results, in less than a week.

What I love most about the On A Clear Day line is that the products (Oil-Free Foaming Acne Cleanser, Oil-Free Spot Treatment, Oil-Free All Over Acne Treatment, and Retinol Clarifying Lotion) are all meant to be used once in the morning and again at night. The fact that this system is my AM and PM ritual makes it super easy for me to use the products consistently, which is the reason why I’ve noticed such amazing and immediate results.

Sold separately, the products cost between $18 and $40...but I wouldn’t recommend purchasing a la carte. Do your wallet a favor and pick up the Completely Clear Skin System, which includes the four full-sized products and costs $65. If you’re feeling extra frugal, Sephora sells a quartet of smaller sizes for $35.

This past weekend while shopping at Sephora, I noticed a woman holding the Completely Clear Skin System. She was intently reading the box, with a somewhat cynical look on her face. I brazenly tapped her on the shoulder and insisted she put the box in her basket and march on over to the register. That’s how impressed I am with On A Clear Day…I’m in the store pimping out the products like I’ve got stock in the company.

Considering the results this line delivers, maybe buying stock isn’t such a bad idea.

Make-up Trend: Blue Smoky Eyes

"Using rich color is a ravishing new take on the smoky eye," says celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee. Line eyes with shimmery navy eye pencil, then fill in your lids and smudge it, advises Lee, who suggests dabbing rich dark blue shadow over it to set the look.

"It is extremely important to keep the color below the crease line on your lids," Kate warns. Dab color in the socket and clean the upper lid with a Q-tip.

Ideeli’s Surprise Gucci Sale - Friday, January 30th!

From the '30s to the '80s, Gucci built a reputation for craftsmanship, innovation and, above all, style. Fashion icons from Jackie Kennedy to Elizabeth Taylor to Princess Diana draped themselves in printed scarves, bamboo-trimmed bags and interlocking double G logos. In 1994, when actor-turned-designer "it" boy Tom Ford took the reins as Gucci's Creative Director, he turned up the heat with styles that radiated pure, unbridled sex appeal. The sleek-yet-feminine styling creates handbags that are decidedly hot but don't lose their cool, which is perhaps the sexiest combination of all.

Kim Kardashian's Tips For Making Makeup Last

On her blog, Kim Kardashian shares a few tips on making your makeup last and keeping it looking fresh all day:

It's definitely hard to keep up your makeup all day. I touch up throughout the day. Using a primer always helps keep the foundation fresh. I use Smashbox primer.

I keep a translucent powder with me in my purse and put it on with a blush brush to get rid of the foundation getting oily.

In order to keep your eyeshadow on all day, apply a MAC paint to the lid then apply shadow on top!

The key to fresh makeup is just bringing the essentials with you to touch up throughout the day!

Make-up Trend: Red Lips

In the array of all the Valentine's Day hoop-la, Jiya Khan has been playing up her puckers with a romantic red lipcolor. But what goes with it is critical to pulling off the look. To give Jiya Khan a face that exuded romance, not a vampy look, makeup artist Abhijit Chanda dusted a soft peach blush (Chanel Powder Blush in Orchid Rose) over flawless, matte skin.

He applied Chanel Ultra Wear Lip Color in Ruby Lite, which tends to stay put all night. For added staying power, prime lips with Chanel Hydra-Treatment Lip Care SPF 15 then fill them in with Chanel Lip Definer in Rouge.

Video Feature: Freida Pinto's Beauty/Skin Care Tips

Two days ago I blogged about Freida's beauty tips, and now we have a new video about how she keeps her skin looking fresh and rosy.

Here's the video:

Beauty Product of the Week: Go With The Grain

What is it? Go With The Grain from mark (an off-shoot of Avon) contains "vitamin-rich adzuki beans and rice bran - two traditional Japanese exfoliators - blended with corn cob provide mild exfoliation." Available online for $9.00.

What did you think? I lived in England when I was a freshman in high school and again while in college. While there, regular trips to the Body Shop were a must. Along with strawberry bubble bath and satsuma lipgloss, one of my favorite Body Shop products was Japanese face washing grains. They exfoliated my skin and felt great...I adored this product, but its no longer available.

However, Go With The Grain from mark is pretty damn close to my once-loved, now gone Body Shop product. In some ways, it's even better. The mark product is better packaged and much easier to use. You just pour out some of the grains into your palm and then add your favorite face washing product. You mix the two together and viola! Your normal face wash gets an instant upgrade. Your face is cleansed and gently exfoliated at the same time.

The package is designed to fit on top of mark's face wash, but since I use Purity Made Simple, the jar just sits on my vanity. The weird "donut-hole" design just makes the bottle easy to hold, especially if my hands are wet.

Final verdict? Go With The Grain does what it says it will: it turns your face wash into a gentle but effective exfoliator when you're wanting to slough away some of your dead skin cells. It's easy to use, it smells good and clean, and the price is right. I recommend it.

The Skin Diva Catches The Attention of The Philadelphia Inquirer

Remember last week when I told you about Linda Harding's Hit The Ground Running esthetician's workshop? Well, the Philadelphia Inquirer got wind of her genius idea and featured her in yesterday's newspaper.

Linda emailed me with the link, and here's the hilarious thing...my beauty obsessed aunt (who introduced me to the Schick Intuition razor and who recently treated me to a "day of wellness" at Terme Di Aroma spa) is quoted in the article.

Small world, right?

MAC Eye Shadow Palettes

Hey guys! I get a lot of questions about my MAC eye shadow palettes that I use in my tutorials so I figured this would be the best way for you all to see them and how I organize them. These are all my palettes that I use on myself. No kit stuff here. (I just really love eye shadows ok? haha) I really just organize them in a way that makes sense for me. How I keep the actual palettes organized:
I keep them in a drawer of my vanity with the labels on the back. These are just simple labels that you can buy in the office/school supply section of any store. They peel off super easily too, as I've had to replace them several times because they get dirty. They should stay nice for months though :)

If you have any questions about the palettes or shadows themselves (where to buy, how much they cost, MAC Pro, etc.), check out my YouTube channel. All those questions are answered in my new MAC FAQ video (coming soon!) I also show you how I have them organized in the drawer.

Vogue India Speaks to Pat McGrath

Tomato-flushed cheeks, luminous fresh skin and a hint of dusky pink capture that enchanted look to perfection. Make-up artist Pat McGrath helps us get the first flush!
  • After applying liquid foundation to the face, press a small amount of moisturizer onto the cheeks with your palms to create a natural flushed color.

  • Apply a precise dab of shimmery white cream color to the inner eye corners to brighten the eyes.

  • Enhance the luminous highlights on the face by blending a pearl shimmer cream across the cheekbones, brow bones and the bridge of the nose, using your index finger. NARS the Multiple in Copacabana, gives a beautiful luminous sheen and the impression of perfect skin.

  • Use a lip brush to apply shimmer cream to the inner corners of the eyes and Cupid's bow as well. This technique makes skin look fresh and moist with a flawless finish.
Vogue Tip: Add pink or pale red blush to cheeks to get the 'wonderland' look. For more drama, try apple cheeks with a matte blush in reddish pink.
