CVS Clearance Makeup Haul..Almay, Revlon and NYC

CVS is currently having their Clearance makeup sale. I didn't see this one coming because they just had a big clearance sale in the beginning of January. I guess they have to get rid of all this makeup and make room for new products. Thank goodness for G of NouveauCheap for blogging about it. She's my drugstore queen. I love her! So, I went the other day, and they had a great selection of makeup 50-75% off, but I only did a little haul since I haven't even used the ones I got from my last clearance haul and nothing really got me excited.

Here are the stuff I got:

NYC Blushable Creme Stick in Urban Spice 646U. Original price $2.99. On sale for 99cents
I remember when these became popular last year. A lot of bloggers and youtubers raved about them. I'm not really into cream blushes, so I never tried it out. It reminds me of the ELF $1 Essentials All Over Stick, but with less metallic sheen.

Revlon Just Bitten lip stain and balm in Lust. Orginal price: $8.99. On sale for
I'm all for dual ended products. You get more for your money. It's a lip stain and lip balm in one. It very much reminds me of Mark's Kissink Lip Tintmarker, but without the lip blam. I'm excited to try it.

Almay Bright Eyes Eye Base/Concealer in Medium and Light/Med.
Origanal price: $9.39 On sale: $2.34
G. of NouveauCheap gave me heads up when this concealer went on clearance a week ago. She remembered I was a big fan of Almay concealers. I really love the Line Smoothing concealer from their permanent line, so I'm hoping these are just as great.

Go to your local CVS Pharmancy to take advantage of this awesome sale. This is the perfect time to stock up  on makeup for yourself or gifts to friends and family :)

Sale ends whenever they run out, so hurry because they are running out fast. Also, keep in mind that just because they don't have the 50-75% off sticker label doesn't mean they're not on clearance. Most CVS don't even put the stickers or they haven't or they never will. So scan the items just to be sure ^_^

Happy Shopping!

I used it all up...Revlon ColorStay Liquid Foundation

Can you believe it? I finished a whole bottle of Revlon Color Stay liquid foundation. OMG this is so exciting. It's my first time to finish a whole bottle of foundation and I'm pretty proud of myself lol. It's such an awesome foundation, and it's what I reach for whenever I do my makeup. It's great for everyday use because it looks natural and it really stays on my face for a long time. It's love!

Here is my little review...

Product: Revlon ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex for Combination/Oily skin.

Product claim from Revlon.com :
"ColorStay makeup with SoftFlex provides light weight comfort, so you feel like you're not wearing makeup. Looks fresh up to 16 hours".
shade: Golden Caramel. What I love about the Revlon ColorStay foundation line is the wide range of shades to choose from. You're definitely going to find a perfect match for your skin tone. Just be patient in finding the right shade. Golden Caramel is a perfect match to my MAC NC42-44 skin tone.
skin type: Combination/Oily skin. I have oily skin and this foundation works great IF I apply a face primer underneath. It doesn't matter what brand of primer. I just notice it makes my face oily if I forget to apply primer. Does anyone else have this problem?
packaging: Standard foundation bottle without a pump. This was a bit annoying at first because you are more likely to pour out too much product. But you're gonna get used to it. Just make sure to pour slowly.
finish: It dries to matte finish then later turns dewy after 3 hours (not oily). My favorite way to apply it is with a wet sponge for a more natural finish.
texture: It's quite thick at first, but once you blend it on your skin it feels light weight.
coverage: The coverage is medium. Few of my blemishes still shows a little bit underneath but it's nothing a concealer can't fix.
longevity: The product claims it last for 16 hours. Now, I don't recommend wearing makeup for that long, but I can tell you this foundation lasted me a whole day without any fading at all. It's seriously is ColorStay!
price: $12.99. It's reasonable drugstore price, but I suggest to use a coupon or wait for a BOGO (BuyOneGetOne) sale to get a discount.
availability: drugstores.

Here's what it looks like on my face (Defined and Natural Looking Makeup look) I like to use a wet sponge to apply and blend all over my face. This application gives a natural looking finish. If you want more coverage, I suggest using a foundation brush.

PROS:
-Stays on all day!
-Inexpensive
-Looks natural
-Easy to blend
-Decent coverage
-Wide range of shades available

CONS:
-Poor packaging. No pump
-Makes my face oily without a primer.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Whenever someone ask me what good foundation to use, I always recommend Revlon ColorStay. I've tried a lot of foundations (not all) from high end to drugstore and this is far by the best in my opinion. It blends in nicely onto the skin that sets to natural looking finish and it stays on all day. It's also very affordable which makes my wallet very happy. Will I re purchase? Definitely!

Review/Swatch: Revlon ColorBurst lipstick in Coral

I can't get enough of Revlon ColorBurst in Coral. It's my favorite lipstick at the moment.

shade: Coral. It's more of a red orange than coral in my opinion. It's bold without being too loud and scary. I even find it wearable during the day time. I've worn it to work and clients and my co-workers loves it.
packaging: I'm loving the packaging of the Color Burst line. The quilted pattern is classy and sophisticated.
texture: It has a smooth texture that glides on the lips without tugging. It's also non drying on my lips as long as I have a good lip balm underneath.
finish: It's satin with a slight gloss finish. I don't even need a lipgloss to enhance the shade. It's so pretty on it's own.
coverage: It has great pigmentation and I get a medium coverage with one layer.
longevity: I've worn it many times and it last about 3-4 hours before I notice a little fading. It's relatively good compare to other drugstore lipstick.
price: $8.99 or less. It's a bit expensive for a drugstore lipstick. I suggest to wait for a BOGO sale or use a coupon.

Swatches

Here's what it looks like on me when I first wore it for my Holiday Glam Makeup. Do you seee how it looks soft on my lips? You can wear it day or night.

Do you own this shade? What are your thoughts?

Spotted: Huge Cosmetic/Beauty Section and ELF Beauty Books at Ralphs

A few weeks back, I dragged Kiko to a Ralphs grocery store down on Hawthorn blvd at Redondo Beach to  grab some munchies before we head to the beach. I love Ralphs. Sometimes, I would rather get hot food from their deli and bakery instead of eating at a restaurant. They're cheap and really good  in my opinion. I especially like their turkey sandwiches, cheeses, baked chicken and potato wedges ^_^

We were just about to leave when I remembered to grab some pads hehe. I felt it coming anytime soon so might as well get some just to be prepared ^_^. So, I went back and ran to the beauty and wellness aisle and to my surprise, I found a huge section of cosmetics. OMG it was huge! My eyes popped wide open when I saw more than half the aisle were drugstore makeup, makeup brushes, nail polishes and hair tools. It was like a de ja vu of my Bed Bath and Beyond experience. I know grocery stores like Vons, Food 4 Less, and Albertsons have a beauty section but I couldn't remember seeing it this big. It felt like I was at the drugstore lol.

Most of the makeup brands they carried were Revlon, Maybelline, Cover Girl and L'Oreal. It was very organized. I wished my local drugstore looked like this lol.

Eco Tools brushes!!!

A big selection of hair tools like Revlon and Conair curling irons and hair straighteners.

Oh and I was surprised to see the ELF or eyes.lips.face. Beauty Encyclopedias. Usually, these are sold on the ELF website or Target so finding them at a grocery store was surprising!

This is really exciting. Now you can do your grocery shopping and feed your beauty addiction at the same time. The only bad thing I noticed were the prices. Most of the makeup were full price and, I didn't see any BOGO (buy one, get one) sale. I doubt that they would have it, but I'm pretty sure you can use a coupon to get a discount. Also, I'm not sure if all Ralphs carries a huge cosmetic section. I'll find out and I will edit this post and let you guys know.

Collective Haul: Drugstore, Ann Taylor and Bath and Body Works.

Hey everyone! I just like to say thank you for the sweet comments you guys left on my Super Bright Green and Yellow makeup on my previous post. I have sweet and kind blogger friends ^_^. Anyway, just wanna share my collective haul that I have accumulated in the past 2-3 weeks. It's not that much, but I still want to show you guys because I love everything that I got.

I love these. I work with kids and most of them are sick all time, and I constantly have to use hand sanitizer for protection lol. I also love the size because you can just throw it in my purse and use it whenever I need them.

CVS drugstore
It's not a good thing when you work walking distance to a drugstore lol. I find myself going on my lunch break or after work to kill time. I always end up getting at least one item for no reason at all.

Revlon Photo Ready liquid foundation in Golden Beige. It's supposed to be the drugstore High Definition foundation. I know!!! I finally gave in. I blame it on youtube video review and haul for this product lol. But I do like it. So far I have no complaints about it except for its not the right shade for me because of the limited shade selection. But I managed to make it work though ^_^ Go to this POST to see how it looks on my face.

Milani Mineral Powder blush in Mai Tai. I've been seriously wanting this blush and, its always sold out at my local CVS. There was one left when I went to i got it ^_^
price: $5.99

Milani 3D Glitzy Glamour lip gloss in Fashion Diva. This one caught my eye because of the gorgeous Magenta color. I love the fine shimmers in it that is very visible on the lips ^_^
price: $6.99

Soooo pretty!!!

Ann Taylor
The Petite Perfect Ponte Pencil Skirt
orig price: $80.00
sale: $29.88
It's the most comfortable pencil skirt I've ever put on!

Have an awesome day everyone!!!

My face is glowing with Revlon Photo Ready Foundation

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! It's still hot over here in L.A. and I'm just trying my best to cool down. I just wanted to share my FOTD  using my newest liquid foundation, the Revlon Photo Ready. I finally gave in and got myself one of these lol. This won't be a review, but I just wanted to quickly show you how it looks on my face. It's my first time using it and I'm pretty pleased with it.

I don't want to get into the foundation too much but the shade I got was one shade lighter than my skin tone. Golden Beige. The shade after Golden Beige will be way too dark on me, so I didn't get it. I'd rather go lighter than dark. Also, unlike the Revlon Color Stay, there wasn't a lot of shades to choose from. Bummer!

Here is a photo taken in Auto (camera setting). I look glow-y.

Here is a photo taken in Macro. The photo is more crisp and the colors are more saturated and vivid. The shade is lighter than my skin tone, but I managed to make it work by blending it down to my neck using the beauty blender! And I like how my face looks flawless with a nice glow gaaahhh! I LIKE^_^

Photo taken outside in Macro with no flash. It still looks pretty good right?

Today is my first time using it and I'll give it about a week before I do my thorough review on it. It's still super hot over here in L.A. The only reason why I'm using this today is because I'm gonna be in an air-conditioned room the whole day. Otherwise, I would have worn my tinted moisturizer.

Thanks for stopping by!!!
