Review/Photos: Quench Bath and Body and New Ed Hardy Shoes ^_^

I was given the opportunity to try some samples from a skin care line called Quench. I was supposed to get these a long time ago, but there was confusion in the mail so it took forever to come. But now it's here, I was able to try them and I must say that I had a great experience with the products. I just wished the samples were a little bigger because I really enjoyed all of them. But I still thank Quench for introducing me to their line.

The first thing I did when I got the samples was go to their website Quenchbathandbody.com to learn more about them. Quench is a fairly new company owned by Shashi Srikantan. She was inspired to create a bath and body line from all the natural beauty remedies that she learned from her mother while growing up in India. Bath and body products that are all natural and does NOT contain paraben, sulfate and harmful chemicals. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not really into the whole "all natural" thing. Most of the time I don't even read the ingredients of products I use. I care more for scent and packaging. If it looks cute, I'd buy it O_o. Am I proud of that? No! I should pay more attention to what I put on my skin.

So on to my review...

Here are the samples I got...Saffron Herbal lotion, Sandal Honey body butter (which lasted 3 days), African Black soap and Shea Butter Oil all over body moisturizer (which lasted 2 days).

Sandal Honey Body Butter

Quench website says, "Sandal Honey Body Butter rehydrates dry skin with rich cacao seed butter, sesame seed oil and nutmeg. Crafted with traditional wisdom and beneficial ingredients this rich and creamy body butter pampers tired, dry skin leaving a luminous glow. Try Sandal Honey Body Butter alongside Sandal Honey Body Wash to maximize its healthful benefits."

Ingredients:  Aqua (Water), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Honey, OleaEuropaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Steryl Alcohol, Glyceryl Mono Stearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Glycerin, Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg) Oil, Stearic Acid, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Almond) Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Polysorbate-40, Triethanolaine, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Sodium Benzoate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Fragrance, Color.

I'm a sucker for body butters, so I enjoyed this sample a lot. It's thick and firm on initial contact, but easily applies once you spread on the skin and all over the body. It quickly absorbed into the skin without any greasy or sticky feeling, which I love. I've tried many body butters and they usually feel very heavy, but not this one. The scent of sandal honey is very light and is quite refreshing. I really like it.

Saffron Herbal lotion

Quench website says, "Saffron Herbal Body Lotion naturally conditions dry and weather worn skin. Saffron Herbal Body Lotion infuses the skin with the moisturizing action of panthenol and almond oil, while saffron and comfrey work to soften and exfoliate the skin. Begin your treatment with Saffron Herbal Body Wash for best results."

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glycerin, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Almond) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Brassica Juncea (Mustard) Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Terminalia Bellirica (Beleric), Trigonella Foenum

Saffron? The only time I hear the word Saffron is when I watch the food network or when I see my mom use it in her cooking. She use it to give a subtle smoky flavor and gorgeous yellow color to her porridge or soup. I  didn't know Saffron can be beneficial to the skin. Just like the Sandal Honey body butter, this lotion felt very light with no greasy or sticky feeling. It was very moisturizing.

African Black Soap

Quench website says, "Traditionally made in Ghana, West Africa where it is known as Alata Samina, black soap is a natural cleanser for body, face, and hair.  Quench’s liquid version is made from cocoa pods dried under the hot African sun and mixed with coconut oil. The cocoa pods are rich in vitamins A and E, while the coconut oil softens, protects, and promotes healing of hair and skin; this results in a fragrance-free, paraben-free, and sodium lauryl sulfate-free soap gentle "

Ingredients: Coconut oil, cocoa pod ashes and Shea Butter

It's my first time trying African black soap. This product can be used to wash the hair, face and body, but I was only able to use for my body because the sample was small. Unlike other body wash I've tried, this one didn't foam up very well. I used my loofa, squushing it with a little water, trying to get as much foam out of it, but only little came out. There's only 3 ingredients in the product and I know it's missing some type of foaming ingredient. However, it doesn't mean that it didn't clean my body. In fact, I felt squeaky clean ^_^.

Shea Butter Oil All Over Body Moisturizer

Quench website says: "The fruit of the African shea tree is crushed and boiled to extract its butter. This pure shea butter is then fractionated into stearin and olein through a non-chemical process to create our shea butter oil. Shea butter is known for its cosmetic properties as a moisturizer and emollient and is a known anti-inflammatory agent. Shea butter is effective at treating rashes, severely dry skin, blemishes, and wrinkles, while it nourishes the skin with vitamins A, E and F."

Ingredients: Shea Butter Oil

That's right! There is only one ingredient in this product, Shea Butter Oil. I sent an email to Quench to ask if it's really true. Is it really pure Shea Butter Oil? Here's what Shashi (the owner) said in her email: "Yes, you are correct that the shea butter oil just has shea butter in it. It is sourced from coops to ensure the purity of the product, and to ensure that it is purchased via fair trade channels. That is the reason why it is slight more expensive.  We are working on getting our fair trade certification, which we hope to have by 2012.  It is generally a year long process.  That said, we have been talking about lowering our prices slightly to be more in line with other higher end, mainstream brands."

It's my first time using pure Shea Butter oil and oh boy, it was such a treat. I used it right after the African Black Soap. The texture was quite thick and was a bit difficult to spread all over the body, but once blended, it immediately absorbed into the skin without a heavy, greasy feeling. It doesn't feel like regular baby oil. It also left my skin feel soft the whole day. The only downfall is the expensive price, but I think it's worth it. And like what the owner, Shashi said, they are working on lowering the price once they get their fair trade certification ^_^.

I'm really glad I was able to enjoy Quench products even if it's just a short time. I was able to treat my skin with products with all natural ingredients. It really is something to look into and I highly recommend their products. Also, 2% of all sales goes to charity. Very cool!
