...kind of a Greek Goddess Inspired look

I'm calling this my " kind of a Greek Goddess Inspired look". I wore this look to a kind of a Halloween thing that I went to with my friends on Friday. Half of the people wore costumes and the rest didn't lol. As you can see in the photos below, it doesn't exactly look like a Greek Goddess with the gold leaf crown, white toga and all that jazz but I promise I did my  makeup with a Greek Goddess in mind. I think of a Greek Goddess with a flawless and bronzey face, light gold, silver eyes and nude lips with a hint on gold. There are so many variations on how do it but this is just my own take. I hope you like it.

I wore a loose and off the shoulder white shirt instead of a toga. For accessories, I wore chunky and layered matching necklace and bracelet instead of a gold leaf crown and a the messy and wavy hair of course for sexy look.

 Makeup
eyes:
-Almay Line Smoothing concealer (as a base on the eyes)
-Mac Mineralized Skin Finish Natural in medium deep (so set the concealer)
-Urban Decay Primer potion (as a primer to saturate the colors)
-Urban Decay Book of Shadows Alice in Wonderland
  • Oraculum e/s (brushed above the crease with the blending brush and inner half of the lower lash line)
  • Vorpal e/s (applied all over the lids)
-Mac e/s in Spiced Chocolate (applied on the outer V with a crease brush)
-Miliani e/s in Almondine (applied on the brow bone as high light)
-Sonia Kashuk gel liner in Ebony (to line the upper lash line and water line)
-The Select false eye lashes

face:
-Dermalogica oil control face lotion (to mattify the face)
-Maybelline Instant Age Rewind face primer (applied next to help the foundation apply smoother)
-Revlon Color stay liquid foundation in Golden Caramel (applied with a foundation brush to even out the skintone)
-Almay Line Smoothing concealer in light/med (applied under the eyes as a highlight)

cheeks:
-Mac blush in Gingerly (applied on the apples of the cheeks)
-Milani Mosaic blush in Afterglow (applied on the temples and under the cheekbones for a bronze look)

lips:
-Say Yes to Carrots lip butter in Melon (to moisturize the lips)
-Wet and Wild lip liner in Willow (applied on the lip line and blend on the entire lips)
-Rimmel London Moisture Renew lipstick in Spotlight Beige (applied on the lips as the lip color)
-Urband Decay e/s in Oraculum (applied in the center of the upper and bottom lips for high light)

...just a little cam whoring I did as I played with the different settings of my camera. The makeup changes depending on the lighting. I like the photos without the flash because it doesn't wash out the colors.

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from me and Westy, who is so spoiled that my mom bought him TWO costumes for the Halloween parade at daycare. Did you dress up this year? Tell me about your costume in the comments section.

Elegant Make Up

Makeup is surprisingly often an overlooked item when planning your dream shaadi. Brides always focus on planning their outfits, jewellery. Wedding day is associated with lots of expectations and anticipations. Much attention and care should be taken towards small details when it comes to the bridal make up. A wedding day make up would definitely be very different form the regular days and yet it is essential to remember that it does not spoil the beauty of the bride by heavy application or experimenting on the grand day. The ideal bridal make up would accentuate the bride's beauty and conceal the flaws naturally. Neither too much nor too less, but a perfect combination of the make up and the natural beauty would thus, help the bride look and feel the center of the attraction

* Contest Prizes Haul *

A couple of months ago I won another makeup contest on YouTube (from "happilyeverafter99"), with the "Red Sunset Makeup Look". This week I got the prizes and I am actually really happy with what I received, especially with the LA Colors and E.l.f. stuff. And here is everything sitting on my bed :):
And here are all the things in a more detailed view:
3 LA Colors palettes, one in "Wild Flowers", one "Neutrals" and one colorful one in rainbow colors (name?), plus two elf quads, which are actually my favorite ones. And I am also happy about the "Punk Phunk" quad, since the one from Sarah had the white e/s broken...

Two LA Colors nail design polishes, one LA colors lipstick in "Flower", one Elf nail polish in "Fuchsia", an elf eyelid primer. The stuff were all packed individually, but I kind of started to rip them off as soon as I got home and forgot to take the pictures before :P. That's why some of them have the packaging on, and some no...

A "Glamour Goddess" (Color Workshop) mini lip palette, a Vanilla Strawberry body lotion, an Elf silver liquid liner...

Some earrings and bracelets, nail tatoos and bra straps in four different colors...

One blush and bronzer, 16 sponge tip applicators, Silly Bands with words and phrases, 2 big hair clips...

A transparent summer bag, one Elf lash curler, a set of French manicure, the Elf phone charms...

Detailed view of the phone charms from Elf

Detailed view of the mini lip palette

The LA Colors 5 color palettes
And that's about it...

Hope you've enjoyed this small haul and thank you so much for stopping by!
Have a great day and here's a big kiss :D!
Alexandra.

Carol's Daughter Sugar-Dipped Vanilla Bath and Body Collection

They got me. And by they, I mean Lisa Price and those hustlers at the Home Shopping Network.

A few weeks ago while at home on maternity leave, I was channel surfing and landed on HSN. Lisa, founder of Carol’s Daughter, and the HSN host were raving about the ‘Today’s Special’ – the new Sugar-Dipped Vanilla Bath and Body Collection. They extolled the virtues of the products’ ultra-hydrating properties, and couldn’t stop gushing about the collection’s unique fragrance profile. And by the end of the presentation, I had reserved a set for myself.

I don’t think I’ve ever purchased bath and body products without smelling them before, so ordering the Sugar-Dipped Vanilla products online was a leap of faith. And I fully intended to give someone a piece of my mind if my order didn’t live up to the hype. Luckily, the products turned out to be just as amazing as they were described – which is why I’m taking this opportunity to start spreadin’ the news.

For all of you fellow vanilla addicts out there, I think you’re going to dig the Sugar-Dipped Vanilla fragrance. Why? Well, because notes like peach, pink peony, guava, water lily, sandalwood and cotton candy set it apart from your run-of-the-mill vanilla scent. It smells so soft and fresh, and the fragrance is so flattering that I think a lot of vanilla haters will actually love it too. Trust me, you won't smell like baked goods.

You’ll also love how the Sugar-Dipped Vanilla Bath and Body Collection - which includes body wash, body cream, and an ‘All Over Sheen’ (plus a loofah) – deeply moisturizes skin while leaving it velvety soft…not greasy.

I’ve been using the collection every day since it arrived on my doorstep, and I adore it so much that I’m kicking myself for not also buying the Sugar-Dipped Vanilla Eau de Toilette Rollerball.

The Sugar-Dipped Vanilla Bath and Body Collection are an HSN exclusive, so if you take my advice and snag yourself a set, visit hsn.com.

Make-up Trend: Contoured Cheeks

Prominent cheekbones are one of a woman's most feminine characteristics, which is why on the latest cover of Harper's Bazaar India Twinkle Khanna allowed that feature to be front and center. Her look, created by makeup artist Subhash Vaggal, concentrated on two-tones: A swipe of bronzer along the center of her cheeks topped off with a swirl of a pearly highlighter on the apples. Suck in your cheeks to find the right lines; after applying, sweep a clean brush over your face to soften any harsh edges.

~~Halloween Themed ~ Mermaid Makeup~~

If I were to get a costume for Halloween, I would get a mermaid one, because I just love the way you can create a makeup look for these mystical creatures! Besides, it is quite simple to create it, even though it takes some time to do it. And here is what I came up with, not being inspired by anything at all, maybe only by the ones I've had in my mind and seen in the past:
The only eyeshadows used for this look are the two blues from my upper lid and the white silver from my lips. All other products used are glitters, fake lashes and some fairy dust... umm, I mean beads :P:D!

So to start off, I applied a white cream eyeliner with purple undertones, as a base for the glitter to be applied. Then I placed in my crease some metallic blue and another neon blue right under it, to define the crease.

On the inner part of my lid, I added the first glitter color, an iridescent light blue. On the rest of the lid and outer corner - a dark blue glitter. Also, on top of the blue eyeshadow, on the outer part, I applied some 3D glitter, as well as for my eyebrows.

On my lower lid, upper inner lid and browbone I placed some pink glitter with purple reflexes. Next followed the fake lashes, up and bottom. I used the Sephora diamond lashes and demi no name lashes for my lower lashline, after applying the black liquid liner with two outer corner flicks..

On my right cheek only I applied some 3D stars and hearts, blue with green undertones, to simulate someway the fish scales. I added one star to the inner corner of the eye as well.

On my lips I applied a lip balm, to create a sticky base, then applied some white silvery eyeshadow on the entire lip area, up and bottom and then took the same blue e/s from my lid and placed it on the middle of my lower lip and on the cupid's bow.

Apply some white eyeliner on your waterline to open them up more, and accsessorize, if you wish to, with some pearls and some beaded blue top! :) And that's about all I did...
