Fedora hats appeared at the beginning of the 1920’s. They can be seen in old blockbuster movies, where actors like Humphrey Bogart or Frank Sinatra wore them with style.
The “hit” faded away by the 1970’s, but the ones who brought them back, in the 80’s, were stars like Michael Jackson and Daniel Newton, the black and white fedora becoming the “it” item of their looks. Again, the hat conquered a serious part of the Hollywood scene, shown off by Indiana Jones, Dick Tracy and Freddy Kruger.
Today, it can be worn in many combinations and in all seasons. The most fashionable styles in summer are the ones paired up with denim shorts, boyfriend jeans or with a summer dress. Whatever you choose, it has to be flowy and thin, with a soft texture. Choose light colored fedoras or flowery designs for the hot season.
How to wear it in the autumn? With a sexy trench, of course! ;) The Humphrey Bogart style will never fade away, and you can take advantage of the fact that it’s unisex. But fedoras can be worn with leather or denim jackets, knitted cardigans or long sleeved shirts as well.
In order to have a truly modern look, pair up your fedoras with scarves or long knitted winter ones, wrapped a few times around your neck area, and/or with a pair of aviator or Jackie O, oversized sunglasses. And if you want to wear jewels, choose the more opulent ones, rather than the tiny accessories, and you’re good to go!
