I had to educated my friends a little bit on how important to wash your brushes regularly. I told them:
- You have to wash a new brush. You don't know where its been. A lot of times they have odors and dyes in the bristles that you want to get rid off before you use it on your face. This shocked them. They thought new brushes are clean and ready to be used.
- You have to at least wash your brushes once a week or even everyday if you want. Wash it with shampoo, dish washing soap, Olive oil, brush cleaner or whatever. Just wash them!!!
- Bacteria grows in dirty brushes and obviously if you use a dirty brush, the bacteria will transfer onto your face and will cause break outs and I dunno what...you don't want that do you?
I kind of scared them a bit but I made sure I stressed enough the importance of washing their makeup brushes. As for me, I wash my big brushes every 3 days with baby shampoo, my foundation brush everyday and I spot clean my small brushes with a brush cleaner right after I use them.
What about you, how often do you wash your makeup brushes?
